I recently updated my Nvidia drivers, ever since, my game has been going non-responsive. It happens in particular on my level 50 in RWZ in beta, but I've had it happen on two other characters, one on beta and one on live. On my 50, its gotten to the point where I can't even log in, it goes non-responsive the moment the zone loads. I'm no computer expert, so if you need some specs, could you point me to where to find them?

And thank you in advance!

for starters, have you dropped back to the Nvidia drivers that seemed to have been working before?

No I haven't. That would, I believe, fix the problem. Since I'm not sure how to, I'd appreciate the direction, but I'll search around.

EDIT: Ok, I found that the site says that I was supposed to uninstall any drivers before updating. So perhaps if I uninstalled my drivers, and then upgraded again that would fix it?

that is one step I would advise you to take, yes.

The steps you need take right now are:

Run the Nvidia un-installer from Add / Remove Programs or Programs and Features depending on your version of Windows.

After un-installing the drivers, do NOT reboot.

Run the Driver Sweeper Utility: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

After it has removed all existing Nvidia files, THEN reboot.

Then install the updated drivers.

Oh CRAAP!
I uninstalled, tried to install it and it said to restart....

Am I screwed?

Im such an idiot, I went ahead and started messing around with stuff. Ok, I'm not touching anything else, worst case scenario, I reset the computer to how I got it, a clean slate. Which would be terrible.

probably not.

The reason why you want to run driver sweeper before restarting is because Microsoft Windows does not automatically delete all stored dll files. So if you have a corrupted file or an older file still in use, Microsoft Windows can, and normally will, automatically reinstall from the existing driver files.

Which basically means you uninstall the drivers for nothing.

Ok, ok. A setback, but not world ending. So, what's the next step? Re install my old driver, or try to re install the new version?

BTW, thank you SO much!

I would through the steps from before. Check to make sure the Nvidia software is uninstalled. Run Driver Sweeper.

Then reboot and install the updated driver.

Ok, the only thing left on my comp from Nvidia is simply called NVIDIA drivers. It asks me about removing Nvidia components, and if I want to remove all drivers including display, or except display.

Fun time.

Okay, before you do anything else, make sure you have the NFORCE drivers for your motherboard.

If you aren't sure what Nforce platform you have, tools like CPUZ will tell you: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Ok, I downloaded CPUZ. Under Motherboard it says that Chipset and Southbridge are NVIDIA MCP61. And under graphics it shows the NVIDIA logo, along with Revision A2.

Edit: And if it makes a difference, my computer did come with Nvidia.

So at this point I do believe my computer can get the Nvidia download. So if I am correct I should:

1:Run that scan you gave me.
2: Restart my computer
3: Download the new (old?) driver.
4: Never attempt to fix anything myself again.

Ok, since I'm not sure, here is the info CPUZ gives me on my motherboard:

Manafacturer: OEM_MB
Model: NARRA3 3.02
Chipset: NVIDIA MCP61
Southbridge: NVIDIA MCP61
LPCIO: Fintek F8000

EDIT: I managed to return my computer to normal. I haven't tested to see how CoH reacts, but disaster is averted.
