necro question

alright so i have had this question about necro for a while, and maybe im just having a stupid moment, ill let you decide.

It seems to me like necro gets less overall powers than demons because the two empowerment powers overlap granted powers.

An example is "Grave Knight" starts off with both hack and slash, and yet "Enchant Undead" grants powers hack and slash, as does "Dark Empowerment." Maybe im just having a dumb moment, but it seems like necro gets short-handed here, compared to demons. I havent done extreme investigating on the subject, but im pretty sure no powers overlap with demons, while some do with mercs and the other MM primaries. It seems to me like there isn't even a reason to take "Enchant Undead" because "Dark Empowerment" grants all the same abilities.

ok nevermind that last bit of what is said, not all the powers overlap, but some still do. Such as hack slash and disembowel

I know you seem to have resolved the issue but I'll shed some light on this anyway. The reason Knights get their Swords again with the Tier 32 is something to do with the fact that they undergo a complete model switch with every upgrade, unlike most pets, because their weapon changes.

It's actually an advantage, they still get the same number of new powers with the level 32 upgrade but in fact they can get away with JUST the level 32 one and skip the level 6 one and still have all of their powers (the Tier 6 ones plus the level 32 ones). This can be useful if you're doing a combat resummon and upgrade to a single knight.

Necro actually works out better with this than some would think.

Often, a Necro MM can get away with the 32 upgrade alone on all pets, particularly when fighting harder enemies.

The first upgrade grants Zombies their -to hit, which is nearly negligible if it isn't slotted. It also grants life drain and tenebrous tentacles to the Lich, both of which see marginal use against bosses or AVs.

The 32 grants siphon life to the Zombies, which sees them spamming it alot if they don't have other attacks to rotate though (partially why they make one of the best HP shields). Grave Knights get ALL of their needed attacks, and the Lich gets both Petrifying Gaze and Fearsome Stare attacks (which stack with your own).

Petrifying Gaze (with Lockdown +2 proc) + Soul Storm (+2 proc) + Petrifying Gaze (Lich) = between Mag 9 and 13 hold that you can sustain on a single target. It's enough to snag AV's outside of purple triangles. Alternatively, you can just hold multiple targets.
