Fried for the second time?

Rats, can someone prove my suspicions correct?

I was at WW mucking around when I saw a TF call in one of the server channels
I switched to my troller, and supersped my way to the FF tram station and then I had green artifacting and a pop-up saying OpenGL drivers had encountered an error.
Clicking OK threw me back to the desktop, no biggie, I logged in again, but before I took a first step it happens again.
Repeated and then at the char selection screen, neon green words were on the names and it froze.
So I shutdown and restarted ... and now there's blue dots all over my POST screen (though oddly it doesn't happen on the second page when it's detecting my optical disc drives) and then also on the subsequent screens, ie the
I can get into safe mode just fine but it won't boot normally. I get the BSOD before I reach the Windows logon screen.

The last time something like this happened was when the ITF just launched ... in the middle of one, I had the glass shards graphics error, multiple times, would no longer POST and figured the vid card no longer worked.
I changed it to the current 9800GT and all was fine.
It's not an oc-ed machine, though the puter is on most of the time for work and stuff.
The machine's 3 years old I think; Q6600 on an Asus P5K-e, running Vista

So ... is it dead again? And if so, what would you recommend as a replacement if I were to stick with Nvidia again? The Gtx460 1gb? Heat and power consumption would be my worries I figure

*I don't know if this is related. But on standby, my USB hdd makes a funny beeping noise. PSU issues too?

What size is your power supply? Maybe when the graphics intensify, the card is drawing more power than your current PS can provide. Almost sounds like you somehow blew out a memory chip on your graphics card. I don't know if underpowering a graphics card can cause that or not.

I should have read your reply earlier, Suspicious :-(

I googled for my issue and was convinced the vid card's the problem...
Went to the store, got a new card, came home, plopped it in and it won't POST!
Something new happened though, the green Sb Power LED on the mobo now keeps blinking upon standby. I strip off all components and it still blinks, the fans won't even turn
Thankfully a buddy of mine loaned me a psu to test and the light is clear and strong. Didn't try to start it up though, way to late in the night to try again. The wifey doesn't really understand why i get frustrated and must solve puter problems asap :-p

I have an Antec truepower 650w psu; rarely have problems with their products. Well i gotta go psu hunting after work today, ugh. For all i know the prev vid card may be alright, just underpowered? Hope the mobo's fine....
