Sick and Tired of Assertion Failures

I have been on CoH/V for just over fifteen months. The game ran fine till a few months ago. Now, I get Assertion Failures and white screens on a nightly basis. I have done everything that I can that NCSoft is telling me. I have done what I have seen on the forums. I have talked with a friend who knows more about computers than I do. I'm sick of this.

Add this to the fact that my internet connection makes it extremely difficult to get back into the game, and I'm very frustrated. I can wait for the updater to connect for thirty seconds or five days. I restart it often, try restarting the modem and router, and running other things on the internet that have seemed to "open up" a way to allow it to connect.

I admit that I know enough to know what not to do with my computer but not enough to solve these issues with vague directions.

Does anyone have any solution for either problem? Anything will be appreciated.

I have already looked at the post about known problems. It explained a lot about other issues I was having. However, I still cannot get the assertion failure problem resolved.

I am currently running on 10.5.8. I know I should upgrade to 10.6.X but I don't have the funds at this time.

Hope this helps.

I'm tracking several causes for assertion failure messages - some currently don't have workarounds, others do. I haven't seen a single one of them myself on 10.6.4 and a Core i7 Macbook Pro. I'm currently looking for a connection to why some people get them and others don't.

Also, the Snow Leopard upgrade from 10.5 is $30.

Changing the geometry settings seems to have helped some. Glad that you came up with that fix. Too bad I didn't see it the first time I read through the recommendations.

Thanks for the help. Do you happen to know a fix for getting the updater to connect on a satellite connection? It can take anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 days to connect.

At least sometimes it has to do with the server.
Last night me and a couple of friends played through Posi 1 & 2 and we got assertion failures several times and always at the exact same time. This is also the first time it ever happened to me.

My guess is that the server sent invalid messages to the client, probably because the server were heavily loaded (Defiant server).
