Mastermind buff bar for bodyguard
Well, the pets will show Supremacy icons by their name if you have them showing buffs.
Also, you don't really "Get resistance." The damage is just split up. (I know, not the best or most exact/detailed explanation of bodyguard.)
(Nothing changes looking at the combat attributes, either.)

True, it's just a damage split, but I don't know how many level 50 Masterminds I've seen getting repeatedly 1 shotted/dotted and me rezzing them. Asking after the 3rd or 4th death if they are in BG mode and getting the 'huh?' makes it painfully clear that there isn't enough clarity about BG mode for people to understand, especially if the combat attributes don't show it either.

How about this. In the pet pane have a little shield icon in front of the name of any pet in bodyguard mode (like the star that designates Team Leaders)? It's not a great solution since it doesn't answer the issue of explaining it to new players but it would at least provide an obvious indicator "hey this pet is doing something different"

Not bad, but if it was reversed (onto the MM) that would make it simpler to see how much damage is being split, kind of like a fulcrum shift buff. I guess plunking a BG shield on the relevant pet would help too.

Eg., a MM would have 3 BG shield icons and each pet in BG mode and range would have 1 BG shield each (3 in total), and all other pets not in BG mode/range would not have shields.
I'm not sure where people are supposed to find out about Bodyguard mode since I haven't rolled a new one in a long time, but it seems there are a lot of people who don't know or understand when they are in BG mode and how much resistance they are getting.
If there is a way to represent the amount of Bodyguard resistance the MM is getting I think it would go a long way to people figuring out how important BG mode is and when they are out of BG mode/range wrt to their henchmen.
A bar kind of like a fury bar or domination bar would work I guess.
