New Player: Problems with Mac?

Hi all,

I bought a brand new iMac (with the most memory and best graphics available) in 2008 and have recently invested in City of Heroes.

Sometimes when I'm playing, the game shuts down for no reason. I assume this has something to do with the graphics, because I still have a lot of memory and a decent internet connection.

However, I switched stuff around on the settings and moved it to where "performance" was the standard by which everything else was altered, and it's still shutting down.

Could anyone (in layperson's terms) explain to me how to remedy this problem?

Thanks, and apologies for my being a noob...

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the troubles you're having running the game

You may want to check out the Mac Users forum (about 3 forums down from this one in the list). They're probably the people most qualified to get to the bottom of your problem.

Welcome! First of all, head down to the Mac forum, just three or four down from this forum. Lots more experts there.

Second, I have the same problem with my brand-new, loaded 27" iMac. As far as I can tell, there's a memory problem (I watch it grow using Activity Monitor). Using /reloadgfx every now and then keeps it tame.

But you should post in the Mac forum (and read the sticky posts), and they will guide you through other possible fixes.

Quote of the moment: This, too, shall pass.
Justice superteamers: We have a website now, in case the forums get closed early. If you've ever run with us, come visit us again before the curtain falls. We're running bucket list characters--anything you've always wanted to play but never got around to.
