Right after Shields came out I recall coming across a Shield/Ice tank named Captain Canada; made me laugh.

Very good suggestion. On triumph there is actually an entire supergroup that has been dedicated for years to this notion called Global Heroics with heroes following a naming convention of Mr./Ms. <nation>. Such as Mr. Ireland, Ms. Poland, etc etc.

And keep in mind, Mr. and Ms. can often be spelled three different ways, giving you a good shot of getting names:

Mr., Mr, and Mister
Ms., Ms, and Miss
