Well, I did notice that your video drivers are pretty old

I'd say there's a very good chance that's what your problem is. The Intel graphics seem to be problematic for a lot of players; from what I've heard updating to current drivers does tend to solve many of the woes though.

I would suggest trying to update your Intel graphics drivers. You can find the "Intel Driver Update Utility" here:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

Also, I suspect that you may need to change your shortcut to force the game to use the simpler rendering path:
