We'll need system specs, and one of the helpful techie types will undoubtedly linky you to CoHhelper and HijackThis, which will provide us with enough information about your system to try and nail down your problem (or check through a few posts on this here part of the forum, and you'll probably find those links).

Okay, your total memory may be 3.5GB of utilization, but actually look at the Processes screen on your Task Manager.

Usually CoH goes unstable sometime after it surpasses 1.5 GB of memory use for the CityOfHeroes.exe process.

Check to see if that's what the issue is.

Additionally, you may want to try mapping a macro button for:

/unloadgfx

This can sometimes assist when your CoH is being badly behaved with memory.

Also, you have an Intel mobile graphics chip on your laptop.
Note, this is NOT an ideal solution.

HOWEVER!

Your graphics drivers are approximately two years out of date.

Current version for you is 8.15.10.2182 (15.17.9.64.2182)

You can download the drivers from Intel HERE.

Make sure you download the 64-bit versions, as you're running the 64-bit Windows Vista. This may help aleviate some of your crash issues.

I'd also hit the Gateway site to see if they have updated driver versions for other things on your system.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Here's the video driver file location direct from your notebook's manufacturer (which is the usual method if the generic Windows ones don't work): Hope this helps

Also you might want to find the sound drivers from the same site, just to be completely up to date on everything.

FYI, the video card graphics driver must be manually uninstalled. The new intel drivers will now overwrite. You will default to windows driver and then reinstall the intel drivers.

I just went through this.

The mfg drivers won't work. You'll need to go to intel and install their drivers. Why? because the manufactur only tests drivers to rollout the pc/laptop. New drivers they may or may not certify.

This is exactly what I meant. You must uninstall the driver back to the generic windows driver then install the updated drive but download it first before uninstall.

There are scare tactics by the pc mfgs. I have an emachine and had to do the same thing...but after I uninstalled the mfg driver and update to the new intel driver my coh game play was superb.

I'm assuming your using windows 7.

Step one: Download the intel driver you need. x64(64 bit) or x386(32 bit)

Step two: go to control panel | devices and printer| device manager

Step three: select the moniter, right click and uninstall it. Reboot the computer.

Step four: install the new driver and verify it by going back to step two.

Actually, you select the Display Adapter.

This works for me I have the Intelchipset also Add this command to your desktop short cut

-useTexEnvCombine

The command is case sensitive so type it exactly.

So the target should look something like this depending on your intall directory for Coh

"C:\Program Files\Coh\CohUpdater.exe" -useTexEnvCombine

Thanks to Tex for this little helper haven't had a graphics crashes in forever ;-)
