Paragon Times here, giving you the latest on Freedom Elite. These week we're reporting on a rare find. An extremist who claims to be a casual player of the Paragon scene. Can you believe it? Here is the heroine of the hour: Yydr!

Hi, Paragon Times! And hello, Freedom!

You look like you're fit to burst with excitement. Tell us your big news.

My alternate ego Dynexus got the "Hero of the City" badge!!

Whoa! Hehe, tone down the excitement a notch, would ya? Don't want to scare everyone off. Tell me: With dozens, even hundreds, of these awarded daily for heroes training up to security level 50, what makes it special for you?

Well, this is my first one.

Your first? Really? You are only weeks away from being awarded the "Genuine" badge for 69 months of loyalty to the City. What took you so long?

Well, mostly things were done solo so I wasn't rushed. Plus getting to 50 wasn't my main goal. In those 1690 hours leading up to the landmark event, I was exploring the City and its history. Every nook and cranny and story I could between non-hero obligations.

That would take a while. Things are always changing.

Very, very true!

And? What did you discover?

Well, as well as the "Hero of the City" being my 726th badge, I have picked up 90 souvenirs from all the major heroic stories. Every one of my 76 contacts sans one considers me a Confidant, since I did everything they asked until they ran out of things to offer. Not to mention the 10 detectives waiting for me to come speak with them.

What happened? With the one who is not your Confidant, I mean...

Nobody's perfect. Once, just once mind you, a villain I was sent to capture escaped. Or was it something to be protected got destroyed? It was years ago, before I even had enough experience to earn the right to wear a cape. Guy Denson never forgave me the lapse, so he only considers me a Friend.

Okay, okay, technically there are another 10 who are barely Acquaintances, but they don't really count. They were the ones who would not give me any work when I try to talk to them because they think I'm over experienced. Not my fault they started their beat after I had done everything I could at that level. Thankfully a little time travel through Ouroboros let me help most of them, though to maintain space-time integrity they don't remember it. I've got the souvenirs to prove it so that's good enough for me.

Ms. Liberty remembers you. In fact, she has been awarding much of your security clearance since level 2.

That's right! She's been there front and center in Altas Park for me and countless others over the years. A real inspiration of dedication and dependability.

Now Ms. Liberty rewarded the level 50 security clearance on August 9, 2010. We tried to contact you immediately, but were told you were not accepting invitations to interview. Why the delay?

Heh, sorry about that. I was busy earning the final 8 badges for services rendered via Ouroboros.

Ah, I see. While possible to do interviews across space-time, it certainly is more trouble than it is worth. Speaking of trouble, I heard you selected one of the biggest threats to Paragon, indeed all the world, as the place for maxing out your experience credit.

You heard correct. I wanted it to be memorable. So I waited until news of the monster raid, then earned my final experience points while fighting Hamidon. Sure, Hami Raids as they are known are as common as Level 50 heroes, but it was an extra special event for me.

As good a way as any, definitely! A question from the forums: What is your secret to successful soloing as an Illusion Bubbles Controller?

Superior Invisibility, Confuse, Personal Force Field. And Fly, my #1 favorite power. Blind, Spectral Wounds, and maybe summoned pets when damage is called for. Everything else is ice cream on the pie and frosting on the cake.

So what you do at level 50 is pretty much what you did at level 8?

Pretty close, yes. Of course I have more to choose from and can do what I do better and faster than at level 8. That also includes a dozen powers to boost other allies.

Even preferring to do it on your own, you must have had resources and people to aid you on your journeys. Who was the biggest help in your success?

That's easy. VidiotMaps, Paragon Wiki, and the Freedom TF global channel! Plus everyone else I credit in the excel spreadsheet, my companion for the City.

Did you say spreadsheet? How many tabs of notes do you have? And how can you still call yourself a casual player when you go to such extremes?

Nine tabs and counting. As to why I still consider myself a casual player: Who else would take five-and-a-half years to max their levels out once?

I suppose, but maybe a "Compulsive" status is overdue.

Moving on to the big question: What are you going to do next??

I'm going to create new heroes, continue exploring with my other dozen alternate egos, and transfer more of said egos over to Freedom next week!

Sounds like a Compulsive addiction to me! Tell me, with the discovery of Praetoria and all the Shades of Gray it brings, do you see yourself Going Rogue to pursue these new stories?

Well, there are over 30 more badges still available to me before then. Besides, it is exhilarating to do good while caring for those unable to fight for themselves. But now that you mention it, I am told that I am perpetually distracted by other concerns. Titles of glory. Shiny things. Ooooooooo, shiny...

Uh, oh. At the office we call that glazed look the Badge Hunter Gaze. Think that's all we will get out of her for now. If you see Yydr on the global channels or spot her alter ego Dynexus running about, give her a pat on the back after oogling her shiny badge collection. Or just wave a hand in front of her face to see if she's recovered from BHG...

Paragon Times thanks you for joining our interview with the latest level 50 hero!

((Please forgive the RP indulgence. I've been building towards this since Dynexus, my third created alt after Nadirance and Zenitheon, earned her first badge "Isolator" in Outbreak on February 12, 2005. Looking forward to the next 734 badges!))
