Disappearing E-mail Bug
Don't send emails with attachments when the global servers are down.
Since emails with attachments have to be sent to global names then you run into a problem because the server that deals with the global names is down. Email isn't run on the global server, it's run on the same server that you are playing on.
I doubt if there is any code in place or any that they could put in place (at least none that would not eat a huge amount of resources) to allow for a check to see if the global server is up before allowing an email to be sent.
It just requires a bit of common sense be used when sending emails with attachments. If the global server is down, don't send emails.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Well, I'll never send inf. again using the e-mail system. It's broken as far as I'm concerned.
It let's you send e-mail with attachements even though it's down and they just vanish into thin air. The GM I'm working with is having difficulty finding any trace of them.
I didn't even know the global system was down because I was sending the global e-mails to my second account. If I were sending them to same account, then I would have seen them not appearing.
For the second time in less than two weeks I've encountered a bug with the ingame e-mail system. When I have a rather large amount of inf. on one character I have been e-mailing it to myself at my global to claim on another character for use.
This morning after the servers came back up after maintenance I was trying to claim some inf. from my e-mail, but no matter how many times I clicked it I couldn't claim it. I was still able to send e-mails though. I sent a few e-mails and then logged off. When I logged back on all my e-mails were gone. I also noticed that all my global chat channels were missing from my windows. So I logged off hoping when the global channels came back up I would be able to see the e-mails I sent. I logged back on after a few hours and I was able to access the e-mail system, but all those e-mails I had sent after I logged back on after maintenance were missing. How do I know this? The time on the e-mails. All the e-mails I sent before the server went down this morning where there, but it said I didn't send any e-mails after 8:58 am EST. So from this observation the e-mail system has a bug with it that will let you send e-mails with inf. and it's either because the e-mail server is down or something else, it's causing the e-mails to disappear. I contacted support again because they did help me recover my inf. the first time this happened, but this is a much large loss of inf. and is getting to be annoying being the second time this occured. |
