Which is more fun? Elec/Fire or Fire/SS or Elec/SS

I'm looking to surprise a friend with a tank that is a bit different, he has played an Ice tank, an Invulnerability tank, a Willpower scrapper & a Shield scrapper. I want to know which you think is more fun and why. What advantages does one combo have over the others and what disadvantages? He is going to be away from the game for a bit (a month) and i would like to have a toon designed and to to some degree planned for him when he gets back. He likes fast gameplay (got that more with his Ice than his Inv tank). Any thoughts or suggestions?

My first serious tank long ago was a fire/ss tons of smashy goodness to be had there.
But that is true of almost any combo that includes super strength.
Elec Armor is a bit sturdier if a little lower damage than fire.
Fire melee doesn't have that cool feel that SS does but it has lots of juicy aoe damage.

If you want sturdy go with the elec/ss if you want lots of carnage go with the fire/ss.
Of course if itsw really carnage your looking for a fire/fire/pyre may be even better.

I'd say go with Fire/SS simply because with the new changes coming to Fire I think it'll be a bit more fun to play. Rage+Fiery Embrace+Burn+Blazing Aura= equals pure fun (knock on wood).

Reason I say this is because I heard Fiery embrace will begin to add fire damage to all attacks and the fear component in burn will be removed albeit it's damage may be nerfed quite a bit. But again, this is what I heard, and if it's true, your friend as well as many others will be very pleased.

Also, I played two elec/ builds and disliked both. I dont know what it is about Elec/ but it just doesn't have any uniqueness when compared to the others. It's just meh imo. But to each his own

To the OP, all three are fun.

Unlike Rowdy's experience, I've enjoyed playing my Electric Tanks very much (am leveling an Elect/SS atm). I have an Elect/Fire I build for speed and it's a nice alternative to going for the standard softcapping (That said, either build will become even more of a combat monster if softcapped). The uniqueness of Electric Armor is speed and the ability to drain/recover Endurance from your opponents (in a Resistance Set). And, sadly, no Toxic Resistance at all. So, if you're looking for something to fight Toxic heavy foes, then Electric is probably not a good match for you. Also Electric's KB/KD Resist is based on the toon being on the ground, so if you like to jump around or teleport this could be an issue.


Boiling down the differences in the sets:

Fire/SS = "More" (Rage + Fiery Embrace) damage and knockdown/knockback, and a fast cycling heal, no Psi Resist

Electric/SS = Knockdown/knockback, the ability to build faster recharge into Powers, End Drain opponents, Higher S/L Resist, no Toxic Resist, Psi Resist.

Electric/Fire = Heavy AoE, ability to build faster recharge into Powers, End Drain opponents, Higher S/L Resist, no Toxic Resist, Psi Resist

I probably missed something, but hope what I gave you helps.
