Assertion Failure

This developed last night: whenever I send or receive a Tell, my client goes black and a window pops up that says "Assertion Failure" and shuts down the client.

No other chat channel does this. No other action seems to cause an assertion failure either. It only happens when I send, or receive, a Tell.

Needless to say, I can't function very well with this kind of error. Random people who, to my annoyance, asking me if I want to join a team or TF, my client craps out.

Any fixes? Any advice? I tired removing Tells from the tabs I am viewing, but it did not help. It seems the act of receiving the Tell, wether I can view it or not, causes the crash.

That *bug* or whatever you like to call it, plagued me as well.

Someone mentioned, it can be caused by one or multiple characters in the chatlog files.
So, if you do chatlog, try to ZIP what you have there or move your logs to a temp folder.

I did this and for some reason it stopped crashing me.

If it's a special character this should be looked into by the devs, but maybe it's very hard to track down or reproduce.
