Stone/Stone Brute or tank
Just wondering if anyone had more insight into the two variants other than
brute->more dmg, tank->more survivability any significant playstyle change with either AT. The reason I ask is that I would like to go brute for the higher damage, but I really want the Earth EPP from the tank pools. And I suppose a really dumb question, but is not getting granite a bad move? The slow and -recharge really put me off =/ edit: and the idea of a powerset being centered around 1 power that changes everything before it also makes me sad |
But from what I can see then the biggest difference between the tank and the brute is that the brute got SMASH and the tank doesnt...
then go invu in my opinion.. Sounds like youre not really sold on the stone defense concept, so why even bother with it ?.. And yes I can follow your thinking, slow and -re isnt my idea of a great power either ^^

Unfortunately, I'm attached to the stone armor concept, but was wondering how much I'm inevitably going to be regretting it =P
You can use IO's to help nullify the effects of Granites -rech and slow. Check out the guides section and find the one "Need for Speed" relating to Stone Armor Brutes. I have been slowly building up a second build using the guide (tweeked a little to personal playstyle).
I LOVE the Stone/Stone combo!! I have one that is "decked out" as a badge-hunter and cant wait for GR to hit to get into those blue-side badges
I would go Brute if making a Stone Armor character.
Stone Armor in Granite can handle the aggro to get Fury basically capped out for a Brute, giving them a large damage bonus that will help offset the Granite penalties. And while Brutes gain less from +Dam buffs, that also means that they're less affected by -Dam debuffs.
You need an offensive set with a relatively large amount of attacks, fast-recharging (Elec, Dark, Fire), though, rather than the higher-safety but lower-damage Stone Melee, which has fast animations but slow recharges.
