Does Brain Storm Idea Salvage counts?

Unfortunately not. It used to but NCSoft thought that was an exploit and stopped counting conversions.

Or do something silly like just be patient and craft & sell stuff on the market. That way you'll be working towards two sets of badges.

Field Crafter is nothing. I scored Fabricator largely on common enhancements on the market, back when it was still 10,000. You'll be fine. 
That's also how I made my first billion, so you can definitely have fun doing it.

I am trying to get the Field Crafter Badge and was wondering if crafting/converting base salvage to Brain Storm Idea salvage counts towards the Master Craftsman badge? Thanks in advanced.
