Shield defense holes

I am currently playing a Fire/SD scrap and im having alot of trouble staying alive or taking on any large number of foes(4 or more). My question is should i go with tough for a bit more resistance or take medication and have a heal. Only problem with taking that heal is it's pretty useless if you are in a mob. I don't plan on making this an IO build so trying to make it work with "regular" things. Any help welcome, thx.

Also forgot to add i'm lvl 33 atm and only running SOs until 50 then run generic IOs

tough helps a lot on leveling with so's but makes your endurance problems worse. heal self might be a decent option, but you'll need an interrupt in there and with the subpar defense you'll still get interrupted a lot. shield really doesn't shine til it's io'd unfortunately. you should look into io's, a shield can be softcapped on a budget. the super expensive builds are the ones that go for softcap + global recharge.

When I was leveling up my Fire/Shield, I picked up Weave and Combat Jumping to get that bit of extra defense, enough so, that 1 luck went a long way.

  • Slot Deflection and Battle Agility with three defense
  • Slot Weave with three defense
  • Slot Combat Jumping with one defense
  • Slot a Steadfast Protection unique
  • Slot Phalanx Fighting with one defense
  • Slot Active Defense with three recharge for a nice margin of error
  • Slot True Grit with three heal
  • Slot Against All Odds with one endurance reducer
  • One with the Shield is optional
  • Use a single small purple inspiration at a time as required
