Robotics/paindom A roleplayers haven and a very useful combo

This isn't a full guide as my character isn't a 50 yet so I don't feel qualified in writing one but here's just a few things I've noticed about my Robot/pain-dom build.

1: You will have at least 1 attack power and that's okay. Given the choice at level 4 between "Share Pain" and "Pulse rifle blast" I'll take the latter even if I never slot or use it mostly because moderate damage to self is NOT a fun thing to have especially when someone aggros the wrong thing and all your robots die faster then you can heal them as well as being completely useless solo. Not to mention the pulse rifles are awesome looking and are half-decently useful early on as a knockback control.

2: Robots take damage. It's true, they do. Being very control light (except knockback which they have in spades) robots mostly tank their targets. Due to an AI that would rather use bash then wait for it's much more useful/higher damage range attacks to charge, they will charge near-blindly at foes occasionally (especially before you get Equip).

More insights:

3: You will have NO AoE (except assaultbot's flamethrower) until level 32. When you upgrade your robots. Then you will be drowning in it.

4: Robots, especially after being upgraded are noisy... Not a game mechanics problem... more just a personal thing I've noticed.

Sounds painful *budum bump*....

I too noticed this stupidity of our pets since my return. Back in the day around 2006 my pets would usually sit at range mostly.(minus one drone I called dumbot) I had to use go to to get them to come closer so I could heal them and my team. Now its the other way around....I have to use heel and or go to ..to get them out of the thick of a mess...near the edge of the team vs next to the melee.

I am forced to use this pattern to keep my pets in check:
Petattackall -after mob dies- click heel- cast my heal if needed for team and pet- click petattack again... rinse and repeat.

This way my pets focus attack ranged...then I heel them soon as mobs about to take a final hit....forcing them to regroup on me...then I focus attack again.

I seem to be micro managing my pets more than ever....ugh.

ds/pain is better and more entertaining. No need to micromanage them.

I use share pain all the time solo. In bodyguard mode you take at MOST half damage (well, ok; 2/3 when you only have 1 bot out) and generally just one of my bots is getting the beatdown, so we all share the pain together.

This.

Even on my Corruptor, Share Pain was my first pick over Soothe. The self-damage is not that much, and on a MM the damage is shared between all pets on bodyguard mode. Share Pain has a fast recharge, heals a lot, costs almost no End and gives you a self damage buff.

I really think the OP has, at minimum, not really consider this power properly when he says not to take it. It's a great power and one I've always used successfully on my Dark/Pain corr.
