Power Build Up + Shields?
When you hit PBU any click powers (i.e. not autopowers or toggles) that you cast during that time will benefit from PBU for their entire duration. Autopowers and Toggles will benefit for the duration of PBU. Pets and pseudo pets will either not benefit at all or will benefit for the duration of PBU.
So using PBU and then your 4-minute shields will give the target power boosted shields for 4-minutes. Yum!

You can use it for set bonuses if that's all you're going to use it for.
Otherwise, slot it for recharge, that'll allow you to expand when you use it for other things. +dmg is a good thing.

I've heard a number of things including that once you've applied a shield with PBU, it will stay boosted indefinitely as long as you consistently reapply the shield.

The claims that you can perma PBU the shield by refreshing, derive from the fact that the numbers on the buff icon (if you mouse over the shield icon under the health bars) don't always refresh to indicate that it is no longer a PBU shield, but if the player looks under real numbers screen, they will see that the shield has been replaced.

To explicitly answer your question about prolonging the boost indefinitely by reapplying the shield: this information is wrong. Reapplying the shield will replace the current shield with the new shield (with the exception of the stacking after a zone caveat). Thus, if you have a PBU shield on an ally and a minute into the duration cast a normal shield on the player, it will replace the PBU shield with the normal shield.

I have a Vengeance wielding Rad/Elec. I thought long and hard about which APP to take and didn't really want Power. However, when on small teams running at +2/8 against mobs dishing out -def (e.g. Praetorian Rad Robots), even Vengeance isn't enough to stay alive in a bad situation. But if you hold on to PBU until you fire off V then you can laugh it off. Then there's the benefits that come along with Fallout - Paragon Protectors hitting MoG? Forget about it
Current:
Fridgerato - Traps/Ice (Frdm)
Gadgetron - Grav/TA (Lbrty)

My understanding is PBU and PB DO NOT boost damage resistance value's.
so PBU would not affect sonic sheilds and ice sheilds (ice sheilds have a res portion).
I just noticed your a "FF"/sonic blast, so just ignore this post >.>

Hi. I'm currently running a FF/Sonic defender and loving her. Basically how Power Build Up works in conjunction with shields will determine my choice of APP, so I'm looking for some kind of definitive answer. I've heard a number of things including that once you've applied a shield with PBU, it will stay boosted indefinitely as long as you consistently reapply the shield.
