Here's the as-built of my 50 katana/wp. It's not the best, in fact I have two other builds that I'm working on to maybe respec her or do a second build. My builds tend to be "what can I do if I'm a cheap basterd."

This build has a ranged/psi hole as big as a house, and that means defense debuffs, and that means either death or woob woob woob woob your way outta there. But mostly you'll just hack at people forever, as DA is not a killer attack and you have to spam it. You don't have an attack string, you have an attack/defense string.
OH, and katana/wp ftw.
Look for Iggy's build on the scrapper forums. He posted it several times. In terms of survivability, it's among the best you can do with this combo (he could solo a Pylon under a double RWZ challenge mob with it !). And it's not uber expensive either 
My toon is BS/WP, but here's his build converted to Kat/WP. He's my favourite toon, and the build works excellently in-game.
