Key powers for Ice/Axe?

I've recently rolled up an Ice/Axe tank to contrast with my Fire/Fire, and I was wondering which of the powers from Ice/ and /Axe are needed for levelling. All the guides I can find for /Axe in particular seem to be from before a major reshuffle of the powerset, so I'm not really sure what I should take when.

Also, all of the Axe attacks describe themselves as AoEs, yet I've never seen any hit more than one enemy. I've tried clumping them, lining them up... what does Beheader's 5.8ft area actually mean?

All tank attacks are *taunt* AoEs--that's what Gauntlet does--but not all the Axe attacks are AoEs in terms of how many enemies they damage. Axe has three multi-target attacks, Whirling Axe, a PBAoE, Cleave, a narrow cone, and Pendulum, a wide cone.

As for what powers to take, I would get everything from Axe except the tier 2, Chop, and perhaps Build Up or Taunt depending on whether you like those powers or not. From Ice, I would take everything except perhaps Permafrost and Hibernate. Permafrost is a auto power of limited usefulness, and Hibernate, though a good panic button IMO, is not everyone's cup of tea. Your call.

Thanks. Is there any order I should be getting these powers in? Any that should be put off until after Stamina, or taken as early as possible? I assume that Stamina's still a very good idea, as it is for nearly any build.

I would take stamina, but really once you get Energy Absorbtion, you end problem days will be over.

For my Ice/Elect, I took most of Ices powers pretty early, powers to definitly take when avilable: Frozen Armor, Hoarfrost, Chilling Embrace, Wet Ice

Powers to hold off till stamina: Icicles, Glacial Armor

And I like Hibernation, some people dont. but i do.

The thing about Ice Armor is that since its all about defense, baddies will have a hard time hitting up, but every once in awhile they will hit you, and it will hurt (especially if its a boss/eb). Thats where Hoarfrost comes in, but if thats not up, Hibernation is just as good.

With Ice Armor, there will be times where you feel unbeatable, and others where you feel like a blaster.

SO's/IO's definitly make a huge difference once you get into the 20s, so keep that in mind, because there will be some rough patches along the way.
