Katana/Regen or WP

Now at the moment I don't plan anything too crazy for this character as is usually seen on the Scrapper forums. However it is a possibility in the future of it. I am rather familiar with WP and how it's a fire and forget type of support. But at the moment, I'm willing to take a more hands on approach to my scrapper's survivability if it means it would end up more durable then using willpower. So I guess my question boils down to which would be able to survive better in say, for now a farming environment. But I would also like to know which would have the most potential for those crazy AV slaying and RWZ challenges I keep hearing about as well.

Thanks ahead of time for any input that someone might be able to shed on the subject.

Well, if you get good (and I do mean good, not just average, but "I can predict when damage is incoming so as to use my clickies to the best effect") with the */Regen clickies, you'll maintain better survivability than you will with */WP. If you don't, then you'll maintain better survivability with */WP. Regardless of survivability, you'll maintain better damage with */WP for the simple fact that you don't have to use any animation time keeping yourself alive and you don't have to deal with redraw. They're both going to perform roughly the same where farming is concerned but, then again, neither is a particularly spectacular farmer.

On his Katana/Willpower, Iggy destroyed a pylon while surrounded by two RWZ challenge spawns, then finished of the spawns. Best I managed on my Katana/Regen was one and a third RWZ challenge spawns no pylon, or a single RWZ challenge spawn under a pylon (but not finishing off the pylon first). My build is ancient (I12), and a more up to date build could do better, but I'm still going to give the edge to Katana/Willpower, at least for RWZ challenge variations.

Katana/Regen has done at least four hand-picked AVs at once. Not sure what the record is for Katana/Willpower.

I'll agree with Umbral that neither will make a good farmer, but Katana/Willpower should be a marginally better.

They're both really nice combinations.

Well thanks to both of you for your reply. I think the only thing I would need to round out the trifecta of posters that I look to for answers would be Iggy posting here as well. On that note, I'm off to my Kat/WP scrapper, will have a build posted in a week or two for critiquing. Thank again for the help. I hate running into dilemmas like this one.

Alright, don't feel like making a new thread since I already have one in place about this character, so I'll just necro my old one for this question.

Scrapper is now at level 27. Solo's extremely well in +0/x3 with bosses. Thinking of upgrading to +4 soon, but my question is about hasten. For a decent attack chain, (can't remember it off the top of my head but I'll give it a shot.) I think it was DA+GC+SG+GC+GD (please correct that if it seems a little goofy) for that attack chain would hasten need to be taken? Or can I actually do that pretty well without having to worry about it too much?

Thanks again for your time.

Do you need one Divine Avalanche or two?

Two: DA>GC>GD>GC>DA>GC>SD>GC 90% recharge in Gambler's Cut
One: DA>GC>GD>GC>SD>GC 103% recharge in Golden Dragonfly, 90% in Gambler's Cut

So do you need Hasten? Not necessarily, but you probably need Hasten OR IOs. I'd probably frankenslot IOs with a focus on recharge where required, and if you're running the one Divine Avalanche chain, just settle for a very slight gap. Hasten doesn't really benefit Willpower, so I think it's worth avoiding if you can.

Sweet deal, I'll see what I end up with at later levels (late 30's to 40's) before I decide once and for all. But the help is greatly appreciated. And ya, as of right now each power has atleast 1 recharge redux in it. If not 2 for others. (Thinking of GD being one of those with 2) I'm just amazed and how rapid the animations are for the attacks, at the current moment I don't seem to do too much damage with each attack, but before I know it I've plowed through 2 lt's a few minions and a boss, wondering just what the hell happened.

Katana/WP is nice, and same goes for a Katana/Regen...
Since it looks like everything has been covered, then all I can say is...

Have fun with your Katana/WP
