I've seen quite a few people have problems when trying to play CoH via Steam.
Try downloading the PC Client here, and see if that works.

Every time I try and login, when it sends me to the server selection screen I get the error message
Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, Server 1600.20090918.4T2, client could not find registry key."
I tried uninstalling the checksum.coh file and running as administrator and nothing has worked. I just bought and installed the game today through steam and would really like to be able to play
