My dad was an old school pirate and was bringing up Comm64's from Florida before they were ever available in Canada. We always had a computer when I was a kid and boxes and boxes of Floppy discs filled with games and other programs... one of my favorites was one called frantic freddie i think, you had to control this "marble" navigate through obstacle courses or something like that... and then this one with donald duck in a town.. you could make him learn things and buy stuff at stores .... mimi, my memory is so hazy this was when I was 6 or 7 maybe

Meep! *gets caught in tumbling huggle ball of feline action*

Quote:
I remember my first and last boomerang whose maiden voyage was a one way trip onto the roof of the neighborhood's "crazy lady".
First time, me and my brother, used a boomerang. It went out from us fine, but then it came back and we were like... "Umm.. how do we catch it?", which was the point at which we took off running for dear life as the boomerang of doom came sailing back to us. We lost interest in it, afterward.

Then of course, there was the bow n' arrow incident. Was fine, while we were both shooting arrows at a hay bail. But then we got the grand idea of shooting them straight up into the air, like in that poem, The Arrow and the Song, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Was fine, the 1st couple shots, till the arrows started coming down, way way way too close to impaling us. Then, it turned out to be, not so fun.

I miss all the old cartoon times, too. Me and my brother, camped out in front of the TV for after-school & Saturday morning cartoons. G I Joe, Thundercats, Transformers, Robotech, DangerMouse, Voltron, The Smurfs, The Legend of Zelda, Heathcliff & the Cadallac Cats, Inspector Gadget, Ducktales, Super Friends, Voltron, Eek! The Cat, SilverHawks, Dungeons and Dragon, WildC.A.T.s, Thundarr The Barbarian, Hong Kong Phooey, Jem, Josie and the Pussycats, The perils of Penelope Pitstop, Wacky Racers, Pirates of the Dark Waters, Count Duckula, She-Ra, He-Man, Captain Caveman, Captain Caveman & Son, Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Godzilla, Macross, Macron I, The Groovie Goolies, Rocky & Bullywinkle, Might Mouse, The Funky Phantom, Super Friends, Tranzor Z... .

Was funny to me, growing up in the years afterwards. When there were so many advocates for kid's health, saying that TV would rot their minds. And yet, in our house, our father was against Comic Books. We weren't allowed to have any or read any, not that we didn't accumulate a secret stash of them. Dad always said, tho, that comic books were what rotted kid's brains.

And of course, then there was the late night Saturday TV block, with the Bizarre show, Benny Hill, Doctor Who, Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. Oh! Oh! And then there was the original, Battlestar Galactica. With Boxey and Muffit! Remember, always playing BSG with friends at recess. We'd argue over who would get to be Muffit. Everyone wanted to be Muffit.

Hehehehe. Is funny. Just, on a whim, took a look at an episode of He-man, on Youtube, and found something, that I never remembered seeing, back when the show was first running. "Viewer Discretion Advised. (Contains: V). This show is not considered proper viewing material for viewers under the age of 14, as material contains scenes of animated violence."

No more so than you'd see in Catsi's courtroom or on a typical day on CSPAN.

Actually, the new A-Team movie, was pretty nifty. I liked it. ^_^

Even with Liam Neeson in it, it's going to have to go a LOOOOOONG way. I mean, how do you replace George Peppard, Mr. T, and Dwight Schultz? Who could *possibly* be a better Face than the *very* nomworthy Dirk "Lt. Starbuck" Benedict? C'mon!

True. You can't really replace the original cast. But, that doesn't mean the show still isn't good. I really enjoyed it. The replacement for Face, tho, could have been done better. The other 3, weren't too far off, tho. Still not as good as the originals, but, still not bad, either.

It will never measure up to the REAL Karate Kid. One reason: Pat Morita.

Quite true, Mr. Philly. Arnold will be missed!

Revamps of beloved TV programs and cinema classics are very rarely as good as the originals.

In my mind it could never measure up either, but I may give it a chance and watch it now saying as how I haven't heard one bad thing...

I hope that you enjoy it, Miss Early.

It certainly cannot be worse than the "Catwoman" movie with Halle Berry.

(*PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*) Julie Newmar was the most nomtastic Catwoman on the "Batman" program, and the 2nd best Catwoman of all. Lee Meriwether was the best Catwoman overall, being more like the comic book character.

Still, I'll say that it wasn't just straight boys and men who started purring when either of them appeared on-screen! RAWR!

*obligatory :O at Amerikatt's first nostalgic moment there*

The coastal town where I grew up had a population of about 200, it was a paradise, on the beach and surrounded by bushland where my brother and I used to BMX around every afternoon and weekend. Best times of my life with my brother.

Went back there six months ago and it's all developed and sitting at 17000 current population
