New Dom, Earth,Fire,Plant/Fire?

I have been doing some reading and tried some combos.

I wish I could make my beloved energy appeal to me but it doesnt on the doms. So it is out.

Anyway, I tend to make less powerfull toons, but this time I think Im shooting for the more powerfull end of the spectrum.

That seems to lead me to fire as a primary.

The Secondarys that appeal to me and seem powerful are Earth, Plant or Fire. I have a Fire/Fire now and seems good, but lacks a bit of Visual or visceral feel to me. Plant seems to be a bit of a one trick pony, though a good one trick. Earth, well, Im a sucker for the animations, but have no experience with it.

Im a new dom who primarily plays blue side blasters. I tend to like to be right in the start of a battle as opposed to hanging back.

My favorite blaster is a Nrg/Nrg though I dont think that translates to what I want to do. I have lvl 50's in Fire/Fire and Arch/Dev. The Arch seems slow and the Fire squishy.

Maybe that will help in giving me advice.

Thanks for any input.

Based on your comments I would say that Earth Assault would be a good choice for you. It's a melee-heavy set so you will be up in the middle of things. The animations and knockdown definitely give that SMASH feeling. I often call my Earth/Earth Dom my "Brutinator" because he feels so much like playing a Brute.

That being said, Earth Assault is very heavily single target oriented. I like Tremor and Fissure both, but the rest of your attacks are ST. Very very good ST though imho.

Edited to add: Of course, I suppose it could be argued that Doms in general have an ST focus. That's not a bad thing, but if you are expecting massive always ready AoE damage I fear you will be disappointed.

Actually, Plant is a two trick pony. You probably hear about Seeds the most-which is justified, since it's just woahgreat-but Carrion Creepers is equally incredible. I've saved myself and others(but mostly myself) countless times because I used Creepers to grab an accidentally aggroed mobs' attention.

If you like being in the critters' faces, I'm gonna agree with going for Earth Assault. It's really melee heavy, and meshes really well with Plant, since it allows you to safely sit in the middle of mobs.

If you're still wanting /Fire, though, I've heard Plant/Fire is a good one, as well as Mind/Fire and Earth/Fire.

/Elec is not badass anymore since the last revamp. It used to be a single target king, now it's subpar to /Fire both for ST and AoE.

My two favorite Doms are Plant/Earth and Mind/Fire though which I enjoy the most is pretty much determined by whomever I'm playing at the time... Ditto what was said about Carrion Crawlers - its a game-changer.

When I run the Mind/Fire girl (Sinsear), I tend to use Mass Hypnosis and focus on single target attacks early on in the build, letting the AoE come later than most when I've got the lock-down to back it up.

My first dom was a Plant/Fire named Defoliator who was probably the best of both worlds - gotta love how Seeds clusters your enemies for Fire Breath.

All things considered, Plant/Earth is probably the best for me personally because of the playing style and the visuals. Ditto what was said above about Creepers being a wicked power, and don't discount the benefits of using Seeds and Mud Pots once you get it. Tremor, Fissure and Mudpots feels like plenty of AoE to me, especially considering the little 'assist' you're getting from Seeds. Throw in a little Rooted Water Spout from the epics late-game and you're set when it comes to AoE damage...

Plus - and this can't be said enough - it's just really, really cool.
