Claws/Dark or Claws/WP..?

OK...I have a bad case of the alts. Always have (and it maybe on of the reasons I keep playing this game)

My question is the following...

Which Brute would be better when Teamed with a Demon/Pain MM...?

We PvE only and I would like to have something that works well with him...rather than getting in the way.

So which combo works better in the general opinion..?

Thanks

I'd say Claws/WP. The only thing WP is missing is a click-heal, and your buddy can provide you with plenty of those.

I have a claws\dark brute and he is awesome sauce. If I was using him primarily for teaming (as you've suggested), then I'd go dark as it adds to the survivability of you and your teammate. Willpower will keep you alive, but do nothing for your team. With dark you can lock down some (or all) of a spawn with either cloak of fear or oppressive gloom (I'd go with OG personally for this case)...letting your teammate's pets do what they do...with little risk....while you can still pump out the damage.

or you can go with Claws/WP and actually take taunt and keep all the aggro on you, which will keep your fury up so you can kill faster. This is a big deal if you duo with a MM. When CoV first released, my GF and I duoed with a DM/FA brute(her), and a Necro/Poison MM(Me). My GF had a lot of experience with tanks, and was a perfectionist when it comes to aggro management(still is). She normally didn't take taunt, as she was able to normally keep aggro locked down without it. We were able to take on huge spawns and just tear through missions, but fury generation was sometimes challenging for her as my pets would go all ******* sometimes and spread out aggro, especially in early levels while I was still learning how to control them.

Claws/Dark looks like it would be fun, and I love DA, but teamed with a MM, keeping the mobs locked down shouldn't even be of concern. Fury generation is going to be hard enough, unless of course you take taunt and cycle it often. Throwing OG into that mix is only going to make it that much harder. With PD there to fill in the only serious gap in leveling WP, as a duo, you will be scorching through content fast. Once you get spin, turn it up and let the blender loose.

Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.

Fury generation is a non-issue with claws as long as you lean on your early attacks.

Be well, people of CoH.

chasing around mobs doesnt help the issue tho, and teamed with an MM, unless they are already well versed in controlling their pets, that is going to happen.

Don't neglect how much damage your damage aura will do as a claws/dark. I used to run HeroStats religously when I was playing my Claws/Dark scrapper and it came out as the #1 or #2 overall damage dealer fairly consistently. You may not need cloak of fear or oppressive gloom, but I could see situations where it might be handy. In my experience, /DA's survivability revolves around your heal. Can it hit enough targets to get you back up to full and Do you have enough endurance to fire it off as often as you need it? Even after stamina my Claws/DA had problems and it was only through set IOs (I built for some added recovery and the native end reduction in the sets was a big help too) that she became the whirling blender of death that she is now

That said, my Claws/Willpower Brute is only 28, but he feels much more survivable- and with a Mastermind buddy to heal you occasionally when you take the big hit you'd be nigh unkillable. The drawback would be the (relatively) weak taunt aura in /Willpower. I'd think you'd have to figure out a way to keep more stuff on you than just your attacks will generate.. whether that's taking Taunt or trying to slot Taunt enhancements in somewhere would be up to you.

Those would be my thoughts.
