One computer connects, another doesn't?
I dunno what the reason is, but I got this same issue today after swapping phone companies/ISPs at the office. I can connect to Test server no problem, but the main City server is a no go.

Ah!
It was either updating her video card drivers or restarting which fixed it.
Hooray!
Riley - Try updating your video card drivers? >_>; It seems ridiculous, but it was the most common suggestion for a fix (with verified results).

Updated to latest nvidia drivers (which were the ones I already had installed), restarted twice, and finally said "what the hell" and tried unplugging the moden and router both for a couple minutes. THAT fixed it.

This could also be a firewall issue - The launcher has a pool of ports it cycles through to connect and it uses a different one each time it launches. If one of these is blocked (Your firewall, AV, or at your ISP) then any attempt to load the game will fail at that stage but closing the launcher and restarting will cause it to use a different port which may allow you to connect.
If that proves to be the problem I believe there is a switch you can add to the launcher to only use one specific port.

Hey there,
My girlfriend and I were playing City last night. She was at work all day and I didn't touch her computer, but suddenly her machine just opens up the launcher and doesn't do anything - it just shows "Connecting #1..." without loading up the news or any images; the launcher background remains black. My computer connected, downloaded the patch, and applied it without a problem.
I'm in the process of trying to troubleshoot this (opened up ports that weren't previously defined on our shared router, updating her video card drivers, etc.) but I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem?
What's weird about it is the fact that my computer can connect and hers can't. What could possibly be causing this?
