Many Mapserver Disconnects

Hey there.

I've been getting tons of mapserver disconnects for a while now and I can't seem to find any solution. It happens to me at work while I'm playing at lunch and it's really frustrating to have it go out on me. When it does, I simply log out to desktop and then restart the game. But when it happens 2 to 3 times in an hour it just makes me want to stop playing.

Any help or ideas on what could be going on? Like I said I'm using the work computer and when I play at home I have no problems.

Serious answer: Look at all the other threads seems Ultra Mode is affecting quite a few systems.

Thought about that, myself. . . but I've got Ultra Mode turned off and graphics set to "Performance" instead of "Recommended." Any other suggestions?

This issue hasn't been linked, thus far, to having anything to do with Ultra Mode - though it's also not entirely ruled out. From what we know, it definitely has to do with some wireless network cards, it's detrimental to other programs as well as City of Heroes (Ventrilo and Skype are the most notable offenders due to their high dependence on a quick connection, and even the 'ping' command is affected), and the problems with other programs only appear when City of Heroes is the active window.

Check out these threads:





Then post the results of these two programs:


  • CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
  • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.
