Updater attempts to patch on every start-up

You can set up a shotcut that skips the update process. Make a new shortcut and where it has start in and the address inside quotes ie "...program files/cityofheroes" add a space followed by -project coh. If it says version numbers don't match then you have to use the updater.
Hasn't worked.
I've tried every possible variation of your advice (after ", before, with and without space, both start in and target and with and without fullstop.)
All have said it's not a valid file.

Also you can go to www.plaync.com and try downloading a fresh copy of the updater there.
Further note - this sever is more for infame help - this issue fits better in the tech issues forum in the development sub forum.
EDIT: so instead of a shortcut reading this in the target line :
"E:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
You would want this :
"E:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
As the title says, Whenever I fire up COH, the updater attempts to patch it, and as the speed was 0b/s and had an estimated time of over 759000 hours, this was hardly practical.
thus far, I've only got it to work by reinstalling the game, and then only for that session.
I am not prepared to weight 3 hours between game sessions.
Can anyone shed some light on a fix?
This is really hacking me off.
P.S I'm running an alienware desktop with windows 7, specs should be enough to run this game several times over on ultra, so It's not a lack of power.
