Issue 17 (April 28) Known Issues
By the way I wrote this in another section but I'll write it here too. To really cut down on the lag, make sure to go into the Advanced graphic settings and make sure Geometric Buffering is DISABLED. It enables if you just use the slider and not turn it off yourself. I noticed a huge difference in lag being lowered once i turned that off.
Just want to say this this has made the high texture areas infinitely more playable. No more jerky drop in frame rate in Pocket D and Arachnos maps (I'm a lowbie, so these are the only ones I've been in). So yes, putting another recommendation forward. To fix "Lag in high-texture zones like Pocket D, SG bases, RWZ base, Arachnos Maps, and the Midnighter Club", turn off Geometric Buffering.

That's a REALLY good find. I didn't even think about that switch because it doesn't really seem to do anything normally - but upon looking it up, it makes sense. I'm going to do further testing (to make sure it doesn't do something worse long-term) and I'll add it to the guide if it works out.
