As those of you who have enjoyed Issue 17 in closed and now open beta have noticed, there are a great deal more background sounds in the game now! From coughing contacts to increased traffic sounds, the world of City of Heroes is now much more engrossing and "real".

As they have done in the past with Power Proliferation, Weapon Customization and such, the Development team will be introducing new sounds in upcoming issues! Here are a few you can look forward to...

* Back Alley Brawler will now sigh sadly every two to three minutes. If you wait long enough he may even break out in song with "One Is The Loneliest Number."

* We will finally find out why the bathrooms are inaccessible. When you stand next to one you will hear a voice groaning in agony... "Oh gawwd... why did I eat that burrito? The meat was green for gawd's sake! OOohhh.... I wanna die.... I WANNA DIE!"

* In Azuria's office, if you go to the very back you will hear whispering voices. "Shhh... I heard the stuff is in here.." "Holy crow! You were right... the darned vault is wide open!" "Shut up man, stop talking and start filling the bag... take it all... we'll sort it out later!"

* People in Cap Au Diable who stand near the television station will be able to pick up their broadcast. Although, actually it will be a never ending series of "Doctor Robertson was allegedly kidnapped but refused to answer our questions... Adam D'Angelo's brother was killed and Adam refused to grant us an interview... The population of the entire island chain was infected with a hideous virus and, as far as we can tell, no one had any opinion about it what-so-ever..."

* On Mercy Island a man will walk down the street beating himself in the head and muttering "I was in the Navy... I commanded my own ship..." Back in Perez Park a Lost member will be standing all alone on a soap box saying "You were never in the Navy..."

* Whenever a Costume Contest is held under the Atlas Statue a random Madonna or George Michael song will play.

* Lusca will now sing "Octopus Garden" in a gargle-y voice.

* Lost members who wear the television set helmet will now be accompanied by the sounds of static and intermittent commercial jingles.

* Malta robots will now have the Transformers change sound effect from the movie whenever they join.

* Anyone standing anywhere in Faultline for a long enough period of time will hear a distant female voice screaming "What? No! Not now! I have to go meet Jimmy! Stop that.... NOT AGAIN!!"

* (Okay this isn't a sound effect but the idea struck me and I find it amusing... so...) New Zone Event! "The Ghost Bus has been spotted in Atlas Park!"

* Those training with Steel in Kings Row will hear a faint chant of "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" while in their power choice screen.

* From now on when you're running down the street to get to your next mission... that car that seemingly swerves to purposefully hit you will be accompanied by squeeling tires and maniacal laughter.

* That one hill in Atlas Park where the car graphics and the hill graphics don't quite match up... where every car going over the peak looks like it's going airborne in slow motion... such events will now be accompanied by a southern voice over saying "Looks like those Duke boys are at it again..."

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Heh on the Union server Galaxy City is regularly used by RPers...so he's not exactly lonely, infact most people I know start in Galaxy instead of Atlas (avoids broadcast spam etc.)

So HAH! on you thinking Galaxy City never gets used
