Please i need some help understanding why the game looks so awful I have the latest drivers installed and have tried all the video combinations i could but all the lines in the game keep appearing like it is build with lego pieces!
I used to have a wonderful graphic experience with my old pc from 4 years ago with an old nvidia card but now that it is gone and I'm using my new laptop with ati mobility radeon 4300 hd the game just looks terrible it's like the outlining are never properly allineated and it's killing my will to play since it gives me great headache, i still cannot understand how could my old card work better than the current one

here is a screenshot sample:

'm assuming your old PC was a desktop and not a laptop. Laptop graphics cards aren't generally as powerful as Desktop video cards. The 4300 would be well towards the lower end of the 4000 series of cards.

Since it's an ATI card, I'll recommend setting your Catalyst Control Center and in-game graphics settings to those in the first post of Bill Z Bubba's stickied ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread. It's a good baseline, and after reading Bill's explanations for WHY some of those settings are where they are, it will give you a good spot to start tweaking from.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

thanks for the reply I just wanted to note that while is true that desktop vcard are more powerful than laptop's in this particular case my nvidia card was very very old, since I switched to the laptop all my other games (wow-co-gw) have seen quite an improvement and I'm enjoyng them on higher settings than before without any trouble, furthermore I'm actually running city of heroes at higher settings too the only problem i have is due to those unaligned contours which I am now starting to suspect are due to the fact that aa will not turn on..... i mean it does look like there is no anti-aliasing at all, Bill Z bubba' thread even reccomands switching it off and strangely nothing changes in the game whether I turn it on or off
thanks again

The issue is FSAA. The live version requires you to run HW FSAA in the CCC. The Live in-game FSAA doesn't work on ATI cards. I17 fixes this and allows you to set and use FSAA in the game.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
