Updating published arc from saved file?

A lot of copy-pasting.
They don't want you to be able to retain ratings if you replace an arc with a completely different one. It's an unfortunate side-effect that you are inconvenienced while seeking redemption for your exploiting ways.

Is it possible to republish an arc from a separately saved file?
I'm in the process of removing exploits like captive rescues and flavor NPCs from my stories to the extent possible, and removing the ones that are focused on those exploits. I'd like to be able to save the current versions and replace the live ones with saved versions of my current ones if it is ever decided that captive rescues are not exploits again. I am not sure I know how to swap in the saved versions without unpublishing and republishing.
