Infernal AV

So I had to tank Infernal as a +1 AV on a 3-man team with Shadowguardinal my dark/dark tank. This was Maria's first mission.

Should I be ashamed that he beat me like a drum if I didn't have Phenomenal Luck and Robust running simultaneously? Dang but that axe hurt!

I've never been one to lean on inspirations much but my character absolutely required them against him. Makes me almost want to look at defensive IO sets or something... not that I have a clue where to start on that.

Yeah his Axe is quite painful even for SO built base build Invulns in melee. I use insps all the time on my characters because they're there. You could concentrate on S/L bonuses or not spend so much time in melee. You can back off and tank his other attacks until you are safe to re-enter Axe range. Sure your probably no more resistant versus fire attacks but they can be a lot less painful and so buy a moment for a power to recharge. I don't know who you were teamed with but in helping them best you get helped best, unless they're half asleep.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

There's a simple solution to Infernal... tank him from range and he'll sit there and lob fire blast at you never using his axe... and the damage on those attacks should be low enough not to worry about. As a bonus since he's not using his axe any scrappers on the team don't have to worry about getting one-shotted by his whirling axe attack.

Just stand about 10' away and taunt him while hitting him with a ranged attack of some sort; barring an Invuln or Shield scrapper on the team you'll keep his attention.

Hadn't thought of tanking him from range. Took me a long time to get him away from the dumb altar and he had a habit of running back to it but I bet I could have done hops back and forth using the Siphon to stay healed and done a better job. I couldn't be too far away because I was providing a good amount of the damage.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Maria's missions are pretty popular and we don't have a lot of tanks in the SG so I expect to face him again and wanted to be prepared.

As for my teammates, grav/rad controller was great, the energy/energy blaster... well... he's a good friend so what can ya do?

Alpha Strike bait

Seven years of heroism. Seven years of friendships. Seven years of saving the world. Seven years of virtuous selflessness.

You will return, for you are the mighty City of Paragon, the City of Heroes.

LOL he does that plenty often on his own. What can you say about a blaster who isn't really missed when he leaves a tanker/controller duo?

Want to get a nice defense build without all the pesky IOs? Invest in Vengeance and invite that blaster as often as possible. Every time he or another teamates dies you get free godmode.

:P

I know, I know the tanky ego is offended by a power that requires a teamates death. But let's face it, there is always that one teamate that skill, taunt, and mighty feats of pixel manipulation cannot save from their own stupidity.
