Tabbing-out causes crash

For the last week or so, whenever I tab-out of the game-screen to adjust teamspeak settings or check an email, or something, I go back into the game-screen to find that it's gone gray. I have to force-quit the game and restart. This is highly detrimental to my game-play and very, very frustrating. Running OS 10.6.3 on an iMac G7. What gives?
