Try downloading it from here:
ftp://client.coh.com/
Make sure you choose the correct region (US or EU) and download the appropriate DMG file that starts with "Mac".
Also go to help.ncsoft.com and send a ticket. They probably want to know if the version for download on the website is corrupted.

I am having the same problem...
Right-click City Of Heroes, select Show Package Contents, and then go to Contents > Resources > transgaming > drive_c > coh.
Throw out any file that ends in .new, plus the .checksum file.
See if that works.

First off I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere but to the best of my ability in searching I have not found this issue, similar ones (which I'll go into) but not the specific issue.
My friend is having an issue downloading the Mac Client. Others have had problems downloading updates but for her she is not able to download it at all. It says:
error opening file cohupdater.new
you may be out of disk space or you may be trying to install to a location where you have insufficient permissions
She was downloading from the NC Soft site which I've heard is the best. I have no familiarity with MAC so any help would be appreciated.
