Help with Necro/Pain build

I have the power on my necro/pain but the problem is I am a bit scatterbrained and keep forgetting to use it, mostly because I play fairly cautiously and rarely lose my pets. This means that you can use it to slot the pet auro IO's from those sets that give all your pets +5% def and +10% resistance. Stacking those on top of the pet aura IO's from the regular pet damage sets allows you to stack a total of +10% def and +20% resistance on all your pets.

The 4 pet aura IO's are:

Sovereign Right: Resistance bonus (+10% res)
Edict of the Master: Defense bonus (+5% def)
Call to Arms: Defense bonus aura for pets (+5% def)
Expedient Reinforcement: Resist bonus aura for pets (+10% resist)

While the first two can be slotted by any mastermind in the regular pet summons powers the last two can only be slotted in Soul Extraction, Gang war and Tornado (from storm summoning). For resist based pets and a resist based secondary like pain getting an extra 20% resistance is a huge boost, whether or not you actually use soul extraction.

I checked up on my usual sources for the duration of the soul extraction pet (coh.redtomax.com) but it doesn't show the pets duration. However you can see the pet's that are summoned and thier powers. There are 3 possible ghosts, depending upon which tier pet you are using as the summon fodder but they all have 3 attacks: ghastly blast (4s recharge neg blast), life drain (15s recharge blast + heal), necroplasmic grasp (15s recharge neg blast + mag 3 hold). I assume the different tiers of pets give you more health, etc.

My best guess would be that the ghost pet lasts like any other pet - basically until you dismiss it, log, or use the power to summon a new one. The last time I used it was before the pet duration change and I vaguely remember the ghost lasting the entire missions. Worst case, the pet won't zone with you which means you have an emergency 7th pet usable roughly every 5 minutes with sufficient recharge that will last a mission (or until you zone).

I use it all the time on my MM.

My pets die all the time, so I use it whenever it's up.

To be honest, I don't really know how effective the pet is, as I'm most often healing/chasing teammates. He's slotted 1acc/2dam atm, may throw more slots in eventually.

Oh, and if you click the arrow on the pet window to show the pet buffs, right click the resistance power for the ghost, and it will tell you what powers it has.

I love Soul Extraction. Mine is slotted so I can have two of them out for a bit. Their melee grasp-hold attack is brilliant.

The Spirits attacks are listed on the Red Tomax site on the Titan Network. The other pets give higher tier ghosties who have more HP and do a bit more damage.

If you could spare one more slot from somewhere else to get Soul Tentacles up to six slots, you could give it Trap of the Hunter instead of Gravitational Anchor, which would add 3.13% Ranged Def. I know it's counter intuitive to use a lesser set instead of purples, though.

If you give up Soul Tentacles and take Soul Storm Instead, you could slot two IO's from Basilisk's Gaze and get 1.25% Ranged Def from that. Then maybe reassign the other 3 remaining slots to something. (Or keep them, and slot 3 Thunderstrike IO's to get another 1.25%)

Also, on World of Pain, if you slot 3 IO's from Reactive Armor, that will give you a pitiful boost of 0.625% I notice you're using 3 different set IO's to boost that one, instead of drawing on one set.


edit:add:Come to think of it... you could also forgo Apocalypse, and just take Thunder strike twice on your personal attacks..

I need soul tentacles (or some AoE imob - it deosnt matter very much which - as a *** of effective hard-control, to force the bad guys to stay at range where my defence saves me. That, or I need hoer again, and that would mean loosing Hasten. and with it the permanent World of Pain, and the near-permanent Painbringer and Anguishing Cry.

The change on World of Pain is an niteresting idea. I originl had simply chosen 3 rech/res IOs from their respectivre sets, frankenslotting for those stats. Ill see if I can eep it perma within that set though.
