Squirrel Girl Strike Again
I have the Urban Fellow of Merry Wit. He's 8 years old, a traps/devices user. All his hardware comes in the form of party favors or toys, and it's all completed with the actual innocence, wants and mindset of an 8-year old. At the same time, he is entirely oblivious to the wanton destruction he causes due to an automated pyschiatrist/mind censor he has.
Hilarity ensues, and despite being just eight years old with only deployable hardware to help him out, he can duke it out with the best of them like nobody's business.
Masochica seems to be going that way, random name and concept I threw together just because I wanted a Spines/Regen Scrapper, she developed into a very nuts, if very friendly Isles girl who was the victim of mad science in an attempt to treat her of a disease that was turning her to bone. The fact she likes to bounce around the city in a jester outfit also helps matters.
First off, read Scarlet Shocker's thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=213380
That way, I don't have to explain who Squirrel Girl is, but just in case here's her Wikipedia Page.
Anyway, Scarlet's thread got me thinking. Have you ever had a joke or parody character turn from parody to serious?
Mine was Velvet Venge(a)nce. Version one was created on the Test server when the body sliders went in. Over six-foot, maxed out legs, maxed out breasts, dressed in a martial arts tunic and thigh boots, all in shades of violet because that's what the random selection came up as. I ran her around on Test for a few minutes and came up with this insane background for her: she was an ex-Playboy model who had retired to raise a family and then her family had been killed, so she was out for revenge. And that was that.
Version two appeared on Union because I needed a character to play while my main was out of play for a couple of weeks. So I recreated Velvet on live and sat her down at Galaxy Girl. After a month, she was mothering half the statue. People actually respected the leggy blond joke character. She ended up with an adopted daughter, and a successful business.
I'm now on version three, dual-blades instead of katana, but mostly she shows up when I fancy a change as an RP character.
Disclaimer: The above may be humerous, or at least may be an attempt at humour. Try reading it that way.
