difficulty setting question
You will see all of the options when you talk to the analyst/fateweaver. Note that these difficulty settings do not work for TFs/SFs sadly. Those are always +0.
The Field Analysts/Fateweavers have had their options changed; you can fine tune your settings from -1 mobs to +4 mobs and your team size from 1 man - 8 man. You can also select weather or not you want to fight Bosses and if you want to face AV's.
About the team size, if you're solo you'll get spawn sizes appropriate for the size you listed in your difficulty settings. As an example let's say you set your "team size" to 6. When solo you'll face spawns sized for a 6 man team. If you're teamed with 4 other players (team size of 5) you'll still face spawns for a 6 man team. On the other hand if you're on an 8 man team you'll face spawns for 8... the difficulty setting is overridden by your larger team size.
It's not as complicated as it sounds once you figure out the options. The Analyst will ask you:
- Change the level of foes you face (-1 to +4)
- Change the number of heroes you're equal to (1 to 8)
- I do/don't want to fight bosses (If no you'll get LT's instead)
- I do/don't want to fight AV's (If no you get EB's instead)

Yes, you can set all the difficulty settings at the Field Analysts/Fortunata Fateweavers.
-1 to +4 level baddies
1 to 8-man team spawns
Bosses/No Bosses when solo
Arch-Villains/Elite Bosses when solo
Also note that some AE missions don't take the spawn size difficulty setting in to account.

/8 works when you are alone. You get spawns as big as an 8 person team would. But, when you are on a team, you revert back to just one.
So, 8 people at /8 don't get the spawn for a 64 team, which would totally rock. Woooo!
Your +4 does stick when you lead a team. So, watch out if you're pugging or something and end up adopting leadership, you can accidentally teamwipe them asap. Yeah, I know about that.

This statement is confusing and sort-of wrong. When you are on a team, you use whichever team size (virtual or real) is bigger. If you're on a four-man team set to x8, you will fight eight team members' worth of enemies. If you're on a six-man team set to x4, you will fight six team members' worth of enemies.

Been out of the loop for 2 years(took a break when AE was going live) and came back a few weeks ago
Probably a newbie question but how do you make a mission be the +4/+8? I know there is the analyst's and faveweavers ladies who can make the difficulty "tougher" but I think that only does the -1, 0, 1, 2 etc. How do you make it where mobs are say 1 or 2 above but where there is large groups of mobs(acting if there was 5 other people on your team for instance)
Is this only for AE's? or normal missions also?
