I'm going to copy my post from the Player Help Section below (from:http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=211959)

The issue is that movement is not smooth. Instead everything jerks forward when running or it jerks when turning (Jumps large distances rather than moving smoothly). And it is bad enough that I simply can't play the game this way. The only way that I can stand to play the game is if I turn the graphics to minimum.

It was working fine before the crash, so it must be something that I'm missing.

Can anyone suggest where I might go to get it fixed. Can anyone here help me? I don't even know what information would help.

Anything that can help me wold be greatly appreciated.

Basic Info
Computer: Lenovo T60p
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3
Display Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

I have tried installing and reinstalling drivers. I have used several different driver detection programs to check what is installed. I'm getting absolutely nowhere in a big hurry and getting rather frustrated with the entire thing. Just about ready to give it up and uninstall cancel my account.
I have now read through most of what I could find on this board and I've had no luck with making any changes.

I'm really looking for a generous person willing to walk me through how to get this problem resolved, even if it's not a complete solution and makes CoX once again playable. I'm not looking for perfect, but even with the CoX set to minimum the jerking is bad enough to give me a headache.

I'm willing to provide whatever information I can.

Well since you use the word 'died' I assume it has been replaced? If not, it may still have issues of some sort that is causing problems. I do say 'may' there. So that's something to consider.

Also you might look at what else you have running on the machine while you play. Try turning uneccesary programs and services off. Especially anything you didn't have running before the crash. Freeing up resources may help.

Get the latest drivers from ATI and try using a driver cleaning program to make sure you get the currently installed ones scrubbed off good. A good clean install of the most recent drivers might work.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Since it's a laptop, and knowing how bad laptop manufacturer's are about not updating drivers, you'll likely have to use the Mobility Modder program to get any drivers from the ATI site to install. It looks like the Legacy Drivers are the only ones that are supported with your video card. Version 9.3 is the latest iteration of the Legacy Drivers.

You can try the OmegaDrivers as well. I've not updated mine on my laptop in quite some time, but they sure did the job for me. That laptop is now a bit over 8 years old, so I don't even try to play CoH on it anymore.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
