Emigrating to US servers from EU - Buy game AGAIN?

You ask the devs to merge the server lists, because unfortunately without paying for the whole game again you're not getting to the US servers.

So there's no way around this? I'm stuck paying 20 bucks if I want to lose my "trial" status?

Sure today is the first day of the rest of your life. But so was yesterday. And look how that turned out.
I've given up on the EU servers - It is simply too difficult to get large teams anymore, so I've decided to emigrate to the US servers.
Problem is, the game seems to want me to pay twenty dollars to buy the game once more. This, to me, makes no sense - I bought the game once and have been paying to play for fifteen collective months on EU servers.
How do I get around this most annoying issue and resume my superhero career in the land of burgers and cowboys?
