Which is tougher/better soloer?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to make a scrapper, I want one that has good survivability and can solo very well and also do well on teams.

I have it narrowed down to Kat/WP and Spines/Elec, which do you all think is better?

These 2 toons are almost complete opposites.

Spines/electric has more AoE damage output. It's damage shines on teams where there's lots of enemies crowded together in range of it's AoE output. However, but can't be built to be as survivable as kat/WP.

Katana has much better ST damage output then spines, and has moderate AoE. It's a very solid solo selection. On teams, it does good damage and can be built such that it can tank for the team when needed.

I have both at lvl 50, fully IO'd and accoladed, and without a doubt, Kat/WP is way, way, waaaaaaay tougher to kill than the spines/elec.

But the spines/elec shreds large spawns way, way, waaaaaaaay faster than the kat/wp.

Both solo extremely well and team extremely well, but in totally different ways.

Kat/WP is very nice. Make sure to get Rise to the Challenge and Divine Avalanche ASAP in order to maximize your survivability, and get Fitness on top of Quick Recovery for maximum Regen/Recovery.

Either character would be fun, though.

Too many alts to list.

I have one more question, how is Dual Blades compared to Katana? IS it roughly the same DPS and AoE wise?

Damage charts

ST Katana will win. AoE DB will win. Neither will win by huge amounts.

The win/win situations here are Spines/WP and Kat/Elec.

My Spines/WP is one of my favorite scrappers. Mobs just melt around her. I have one kind or another Chance of Recharge Slow procs in most of her AoE attacks, which adds the functional equivalent of defense without the expense of defense bonuses.

I don't have a Kat/Elec, but from what other folks seem to be saying, /Elec is going to benefit strongly from a primary that boosts your defense, and Katana will do that for you quite well.

I'd go with the Kat/WP as stated by those above me.

In regards to dual blades; DB is fun, fast and pretty with lots of options when it comes to customizing your look with different blades. It does lack Divine Avalanche which is the cornerstone of the Katana set which works nicely when paired with Willpower in toughening you up. You can't go wrong with either choice though, you'll have fun all the way to 50 and paired with /WP, both sets will be a strong choice.
