Kata/Regen leveling build questions
Here's the build for you. Don't follow the slotting levels, as I put those in as I saw fit. You'll probably want to assign slots in an organic manner as it pleases you. Quick Recovery, Integration, and MoG should all get slot attention immediately, and I'd give equal credence to your regen click powers and your attacks. In general, you should be spamming DA as much as humanly possible to keep your melee defense up. The build should be pretty endurance sustainable throughout your leveling experience and the damage should be nice and effective. I short slotted accuracy because you'll have -def pulling some of the weight, and I have a penchant for preferring recharge to overkill acc (you really don't need all that much acc when leveling up fighting +0/+1s).

Thanks very much Umbral, so after looking this over i have some little things that i just don't have the experience in. Like:
- Can i set Divine Avalanche to auto so that it does it when i have a free moment in my chain, or do i really need to be aware of it at all times?
- I see that in later post-50 builds that i don't see much of the fitness powerset, is this because of invention enhancements set bonuses for regen and the like?
- When i was original leveling pre-willpower, most of what i heard involving instant healing was that by the time you get it, it becomes useless. Is that still true or did that change.
- As far as slotting while leveling, should i worry about getting generic IO's or just stay to SO/DO/TOs
and thanks in advance
You CAN set Divine Avalanche on auto, and some do. But I'd recommend getting in the habit of always selecting your next attack manually, rather than having the computer make decisions for you.
I'm still a fan of Fitness, but between your secondary and the Body Mastery epic, and possibly a bunch of IOs, you kind of don't need it on a 50. So probably a lot of people are experimenting with no Fitness builds these days. Regen is probably the best candidate for this. Could probably make a really good Regen build with no Fitness. I know I'd give it serious consideration. But I'd probably take Fitness at least while leveling.
I don't consider Instant Healing useless at all. It is arguably the least useful of the three clicks, but that's hardly the same thing as calling it useless. I would definitely take it.
Getting generic IOs is probably the cheaper way to go in the long run, since you don't have to replace them every five levels. I still just use SOs, though, because I'm too cheap to pay buy it now prices on the market, and too lazy to craft my own or put in bids and wait. I'll generally take the time to frankenslot my attacks in the 30s, but that's about it until 50.
My main experience with Ninja Run is on Sergei, my Dark Melee/Super Reflexes. On him, I use Swift + Quickness + Sprint + Ninja Run, and I go a little over 60 mph, which is perfectly acceptable. The vertical isn't great, but it's enough that I don't really miss Super Jump, which is what I have on most of my characters. You'll go slower on Regen since you don't have Quickness, but I think it's a perfectly viable approach.

Hey guys, this is some great info, (you guys should make a guide ) so I just wanted to see if i can squeeze any more info out of you two:
- Lets say that when i finally hit lvl 50, what would be the best approach to getting the IO's that i need, farming for inf and trying to play the auction game or trying to get the merit for random recipe rolls?
- When you hit lvl 50, are most missions done in groups or can they still be done solo, and if in a group, what can I do to help out my potential teammates?
- What exactly is the situation i should use Moment of Glory for? And was it a good idea for me to go thru the trouble to get the Rikti invasion accolade psionic defense power to pair up with MoG (+res(all but psionic) and +res(psionic)). Or is there a stacking problem with that, that im unaware of?
- This isn't really a question, but just want to say you guys are awsome, i've been having so many problems, especaly in the end department and this has already started helping out.
The BEST way to get your IOs is to continue doing whatever you enjoy. You can IO out a character fairly easily by simply playing the game the way you enjoy it the most. Well, as long as you don't most enjoy pure role play without ever defeating any enemies or running any missions. It might take a few hundred hours if you're just running radio missions and really go nuts with the purples and such, but you can do it. The FASTEST ways seem to be farming of various flavors or playing the market.
I don't farm much and I've never had a good farmer, but Alexei can pull in about 12 million per hour on a non-AE farm not counting market value of drops. Maybe call it 50 million per hour considering the market value of the drops and the time spent selling them or crafting and selling. True farming characters can probably earn about three times as fast as I can that way. Not sure how that compares with AE. Never farmed AE in any serious way. Not sure the best way to convert tickets to influence, but I suspect it's random recipe rolls.
People with a good understanding of the market can make billions in a week on market games. Not MANY are earning that fast, but it can be done. I've earned nearly that quickly when I found myself short on influence while outfitting Alexei. I suspect that it's quite common for people to make hundreds of millions per week on the market for a fairly moderate time investment, perhaps an hour. Major strategies are flipping and crafting.
I crank up the difficulty as I level. I think this makes City of Heroes unusual, but you actually get more powerful compared to content as you level, at least from the mid levels on, not less. Archvillains are perhaps an exception, as they appear with great frequency in some of the upper level content. Fortunately, you can now control getting an AV or EB independently of your other settings.
Man, what shouldn't you use Moment of Glory for? It's good for taking a nasty alpha strike. You can use it as a "heal", in that it buys you 15 seconds for your regeneration to work. You can use it as an oh **** button. You can use it when you aren't in any particular danger, but would like some more endurance. I don't think there's any stacking problem with the Rikti invasion accolade.

What? No! I don't do any of that. I just hate people, constantly berate them, and have an inordinately high opinion of myself. Besides, kicking kittens isn't any fun because they crumple after the first kick and babies aren't nearly worth the effort of stealing from their parents.

Quick question:
- What is the best way to handle a endurance problem while leveling? I have this guy at 41 now and with Quick Recovery as my only +endrec ability when I have more than one of the defense toggles on my guy just bleeds end. So is it best for me just to keep a ton of blue insp. or should i try to alter my playing style so that i use my attacks less quickly?

Something else to consider would simply be getting the accolades I mentioned. Neither of them is particularly difficult to get and I often get the both of them by the time my characters are in their mid 30s. They'll increase your functional recovery by increasing the quantity that each individual endurance recovery tick lands for, so having both is like have a permanent 1.1 multiplier attached to all of your recovery powers.
Another excellent way to manage endurance while leveling is to frankenslot your attacks with a heavy emphasis on endurance reduction. I tend to do this in the mid 30s, typically in combination with a respec into my end game attack chain.

Now i notice that that im not going with Revive in this build. Now to be perfectly honest I have not died yet with this build, but it was a power i felt like i had to take to get any quick leveling done. Is there any real reason to take revive versus having an Awake+BreakFree+Respite+CatchABreath in my inspiration pool at all times.

Now that you CAN combine inspirations.....it's pretty much useless. I dropped it 5 respecs ago and haven't looked back.

Hey guys, i just wanted to let you know that i've been using this build now over the weekend and have had some of the smoothest leveling since this guy was lvl 10. So i just wanted to stop back in an tell ya'll thanks for the help, and how i impressed with how helpful the community is. Keep up the good work!
Hey guys, I could use some help here if you all don't mind.
I recently reactivated my account due to the free weekend (whee) and the last time I played my Scrapper was shortly after CoV came out, so it's been a really loooooooooong time, and I know there are a lot of changes. I've been doing some reading, but I could really use some tuning up of my character!
This is what she has currently (ignore the enh levels, I just plugged them in really to show what she has currently

I have noticed a lot of builds don't have Hasten or Quick Recovery 6-slotted anymore, I assume that's no longer necessary? Also, I was thinking about respeccing out of Regeneration (if I even can) since I am playing exclusively with a Empathy/Darkness Defender now.
Anyway, any tips on how to fine tune this character for leveling (with above Defender) would be awesome.
Edit: Oops, the export doesn't seem to work!

Thanks! I had a feeling that it was something like that, (like I said, it's been a loooong time,) so I'm not too sad. I'll just have to deal with the new order and modify my build accordingly. Thanks for the reply.
Hey guys, I just returned to the game after a long hiatus, and now i'm in a burn to get my main guy to 50 in preparation of Going Rogue.
(I made the guy in 2005, and he's still not 50). So I've been looking thru the scrapper board here and all the builds I've found assume that my guy has like 100mill inf minimum and that I can run the lvl 50 hard stuff right now.
So what i'm looking for is something that allows me to stay away from the hospital (taking revive if possible) as long as possible, gives me enough attacks early on so i don't have to wait for lotus drops, and allows me to have hasten early, the endurance to run it, and super jump. On that last item, how is ninja run working out for people, does it have the z-axis movement comparable to superjump?, because if so i might go ahead and throw down the 10 bucks just so i can do that. BTW I don't mind having to respec at Terra Volta or the other trials.
Anybodys help would be greatly apreciated (esp Warner and Umbral)
