A good first thing to do is to join your server's global channels (you can probably find more information on these in that particular server's forum), where you'll find people who are willing to help with specific questions. Next, there's ParagonWiki, which is good for answering questions and getting general information about the game and its workings.

After what Macskull said, there are also other resources within the game to help you. As well, global channels, such as 'Justice for All' or 'Triumph Watch' are centered around their specific servers but can be seen and chatted across servers as well. Server specific chat channels, like 'help', can be invoked by typing /hc <message>.
As well each section of the forums can give some insight into things like the market (to buy, sell and craft items) or your specific archetype (scrapper, defender, brute, etc.).
Just remember that the Mac version of the game is very very close to the PC version of the game so this section of the forum tends to be devoted to very Mac specific issues. The rest of the gameplay and Mac people are mixed in with the rest of the community.
This game is very teaming friendly and that chatting and asking questions are a great way to learn things and make new friends.

I remember when I started, I was soooo clueless about where things were and how to do almost anything 
. I had good luck just asking random folks in game . If you have specific questions there are lots of folks around the forums that can help you get started down the right path. Enjoy, it's a great game!
