Rikti Invasion 2.0 Feedback Thread

I am of the opinion that special events should, if possible, occur on the weekend, should ideally last all weekend, and should be explicitly announced ahead of time. The goal should be max player participation, not limited participation.

The last Rikti Invasion weekend (or was it a whole week?) was a blast. I hope this was just a test/sneak preview, and not another disappointment like the 5th anniversary special event that was held on a single weekday.

My feedback to Rikti Raids 2.0:

There was a raid? Who knew?

Apparently not very many players. I'm on these forums a lot and I didn't see the announcement, unlike the Winter Event test that they ran on the Live Servers.

If it was a test, I hope they test some more with more announcements. If that was the extent of theur testing, then I expect their results aren't going to be very indicative of how the thing runs for real since most didn't know about it.

If it was a one-time event that won't be repeated, then I'm with Alt in feeling left out and that it wasn't "fair".

Some clarification from a Red Name might be good at this point.

And if it was meant to be some very special limited event/test, opening a thread on the forums about it (which then was the first notice many had that something had happened) was perhaps not the best idea and feedback should have been gathered in some other way, much like the Closed Beta forums.

I'd say I fully endorse this. I'd say that events need to run maybe on 3 days out of 7 to include one weekend - that covers shift workers.

It's one thing to miss an event because of RL commitments - sometimes RL bites - but to miss a special Dev/CC run event because of a lack of publicity kind of blows.

That said, I did like the initial hype and anticipation - which is impossible to generate if it's all laid out in black and white before hand. It's a tough call for the powers that be, but not having experienced the event in question it's hard to know if it's sustainable or not.
