Brute - Dom

Hi there, I´ve recently come back to CoV. My prior game experience was not a long one, played about two weeks top, quited because of studies. So i decided to come back and continue where i left. I was making a SS/Inv Brute, i love the almost perma knockdown of the guy. Thing is right now i was inclined into trying some kind of ranged/spellweaving guy. So tried out a Dominator. I know the AT´s have nothing to do with each other, nothing to compare. But my issue is the following. I understand SS/Inv is more of a tanking AT and that a Dominator is supposed to be more of a nuker, but the difference in low levels is huge, while with my brute i have a no so hard time, with the Dom i just soar through the game. It´s like, Mezmerize one, Dominate another and burn the hell out of the rest, i dont receive a scratch and the fight is over before the creeps can have a say. With the brute on the other hand, i smash the hell out of the guys, have a blast seeing them get knockeddown over and over, but, to my dismay, i´ve died a couple of times.

I don´t know the escalation of the Brute and neither of the Dominator, but it seems to me that brutes have a rougher time than Dom has.

So my real questions are. Brutes, fare quite well in middle, end-game content? Which set of powers would you recommend me? Due to time issues and playstyle i´m more of a solo guys.

For thoose of you who played both, Dom and Brutes, whats you´re experience?

Thx for reading this, and any info you might add would be great

I could go into true depth and answer all of your questions...but since I have a mean case of ADD I have to decline lol. It all sums up to this: during low levels (MOST) Doms will sail right on through thanks to the new huge buff they received not to long ago(Thank God). One would say though Around lvl 18 you start to notice the Brute pushing ahead. The dom doesn't really catch up until lvl 40 and there after. I think you die more with the brute due to the love of SMASH. I found myself doing this on many occasions...ripping through minions and LTs. even though if I continue I will faceplant...yet I still trudge on with no intent of stopping. With my Dom I am much more cautious and tactical.

Some doms...ok almost All Doms will be Godly much like a controller near 50 but Brutes surpass doms more when it comes to passive survival.

I enjoy both AT's and I must admit my Brutes are much more tough than my Doms...now take in mind I don't spend cash on IO Sets.

My Doms are sick and can kill things far faster than my brute....but My Doms can't handle all that Aggro and they face plant but if you have a good Stalker or brute on the team you can go to town. I am still amazed how much aggro a dom can attract. That's why on teams you see so many doms with Debt Badges. I think my Fire/Thorn Dom can out tank my brutes!

So, if say i would have to solo most of the game content, what AT would you suggest?
From what you are saying i´m very inclined to continue with the Dom and just drop the Brute lol.

What build would you suggest for a brute?
Dom i´ve created a Mind/Fire

For Solo most of your career I would say Stalker to be honest. They can team as well but being a Stalker is SO satisfying.

If you must pick between a Brute and a Dom for solo I would go brute...but it seems you cater towards the Long Range/Punch people in the face AT so Dom will be your best bet.

Mind/Fire is nice, controlled, ranged and powerful.

Hrmm Well for a Brute what exactly are you looking for? Something that's hard to kill? I would go 1.Willpower 2.Invincibility 3.Super Reflexes

As far as primary I would pick according to your style. The Default Choice for most players is Super Strength. Solid Damage, yummy Rage and you keep the baddies floppin' 'round like fish.

Dark Melee is Nice With ANY armor. Excellent constant Damage, To Hitt Debuffs and powers that help with END and healing woes. Some say it doesn't have much mitigation but with the tools it provides you I don't see an issue. If need be pick up Air Superiority.

Claws is sooooo fun the only down side is the Lethal Dmg that gets HEAVILY Resisted in the Late Game but just like with the other two sets I listed Above you will have no problem keeping your fury bar full!

You need to find your style bud. lol

And what build would you suggest for a Scrapper?
I´ve heard Fire/Regen was a good one.

Thx for all the input

lol, i dont do Blueside either love the villanous costumes and just destroying everything and everyone suits my playstyle .

I´ve started a Fire/WP Brute just to see how it fares. What would you suggest? What would be the better build for soloing, Fire/WP or SS/Inv? Maybe SS/WP? I have no problem with just starting over again. My SS/Inv brute is just lvl 11 lol..

For soloing a brute, I'd probably go with Invuln as the secondary. It's tough to s/l early on, the autos give it great debuff protection now, and once you get Invincibility, you'll be pretty dang hard to kill. Plus you have a huge heal that boosts your HP as well. Pick up Aid Self and laugh at everything that comes your way.

For a primary, SS is really solid. Good damage, good mitigation, and when you get Rage perma (3 rech SOs will pretty much do that for ya) you don't need as much acc slotting as other sets might, so you can slot end redux, rech redux, and damage sooner. Claws is another good set, fast and light on endurance, though it lacks the big hits SS can give.

Personally, I'm enjoying my DB/SR brute. Animations for the attacks are very nice, and he's pulled off some fights in the blinking red that I was too stubborn to run from. ^_^ End heavy build early on, but SOs and Stamina solved that for me pretty quickly. Plus it's pretty easy to softcap /SR, so in the late game I'll have lots of options with attacks. Tight build though, you pretty much have to take all the SR powers until you softcap without Elude, and even then you still should take 8 of the nine.

Hope this helps!

Just my opinion, feel free to disregard...

I have a Elec/Shield and SS/Shield Brutes that I can't shelf...they are quite a bit of fun...both sets dole out tons of damage...if you like the mitigation of SS...throw in shield charge and you will be in bliss...i have build some other characters on Mids to toy around with numbers....the other responses are correct in that WP is great for soloing...very easy play....SR is fairly strong...though some people do not like it due to lack of heal....Invul is great too....the nice thing you will find about brutes are that there are several differnt combinations that are all strong ...it is a matter of your play style that will help you narrow down a build u like....

Honestly? Roll what you think would be most fun. WP will be a great, easy secondary to solo with it. It's a very passive set so all you need to do is toggle on and go to town. As far as the Dom goes, Mind/Fire is really good and great for soloing also (Mind in general is great). Wait till you get to 50 and you can achieve permadom which will make most PvE content trivial.
