The freezing issue (Horrible buzzing over the headphones)

I used to get this problem at random times in any part of either game but now it's different, it seems to freeze and give me the noise every 5 minutes into the city of heroes, it doesn't happen in character creation or in city of villains as far as i've used them which is hours sometimes, it only seems to happen with city of heroes.

Help will be appreciated.

Also i'm not going to play just city of villains, that will get very boring very quickly.

Does the entire PC freeze up? Can you see any HDD activity? Is it possible to CTRL-ALT-DEL out of the locked up game?

I sometimes have what I believe to be a similar issue. It is ALWAYS accompanied by a loud buzzing noise. I've been an SQA tech for 11 years, and I am convinced it is a sound card driver issue, but haven't had the time/inclination to troubleshoot it.

Entire PC, no activity, no ctrl+alt+delete.

When I first got this problem I thought it was also a sound card issue and I still think it is.

This kind of issue never came up when I had no sound card driver.

EDIT: I'm going to do some trial and error with the sound card, i'll post results when i'm done.

Double post is necessary, I think trial and error just solved the issue.. I got further then 5 minutes into city of heroes, I disabled the audio device I was using.

I managed about 15-20 minutes, then I quit to desktop due to latency issues.

You might want to run CoHHelper and post the results. Latency shouldn't be THAT bad.

Or are you meaning framerate?

Either way, something's still broke.

Nothing is broke it's just the latency going wild (Usual internet instability at a certain time), it returns to normal after about 1 hours worth of waiting.

Framerate is around 15-30 for any game for practically the whole day for me.
