please help, weird connection issues :(
I think it's safe to say the Belkin router is having issues properly moving the packets from either computer.
Just out of curiosity, what quality is the reception you get wirelessly on either computer? If it's possible, I'd also try connecting one or both machines up through ethernet and see if the problem persists. If it does, the router isn't functioning correctly. If the issue disappears, the wireless portion of the router is crap. Either way, I'd say test wired and then go from there. You might just want to bite the bullet and get a different router.

We'll see....
I have never and will never recommend a wireless connection for gaming. It's RF (Radio Frequency) which means that even if someone doesn't have access to your network, they can still interfere with it by transmitting on the same radio frequency.
Combine that with the sheer number of WiFi access points (I count twenty-three other devices in range of my laptop at home, and ten at work) and the chances of two wireless access points using the same frequency goes way up. Those two devices will interfere with each other, causing dropped packets, retransmits, and ultimately, lag and disconnects. You might not care when you're websurfing, as HTTP is a connectionless protocol (it assumes data is delivered, and has no "yah I got it" acknowledgement or handshake) but games almost always use some kind of handshake to ensure data gets delivered in a timely fashion. If your connection is unstable, gaming apps are one of the first to show it.
Cable those comps up to your cable router with Ethernet. I foresee a vast improvement.

I have the same problem. both of my computers are hard wired and only one will connect to the updater. If one is connected, the other will not. I am at a loss and am sick of spending hours upon hours trying to fix a problem that should not even be happening. I'm really frustrated.
I have logged in to my router and the coputers are assigned separate IP addresses so I have no clue what the problem is. We were playing WoW just fine, never had an issue.
we have 2 computers in our house having difficulty connecting to city of heroes / villians, here is our specs:
mine: running windows xp home w/ a wireless netgear adaptor wpn311 rangemax, w/ trendmicro virus protection.
girlfriends: running windows 7 ( was windows xp home ) w/ a built in wireless card, w/ norton internet security.
our internet provider is comcast who provides us with a modem that we have a wireless router from belkin F5D8231-4 v3000,firmware verison: 3.0.0.7
the wireless router and modem are in a different room than these 2 computers. what the problem is, is that SOMETIMES we can both connect to the game and most of the time its either my computer that connect or hers. i notice what fixes this problem is unpluggin the router, then plugging it back in. that is annoying to do since we play the game up to 3 seperate times a day sometimes.
ive tried port forwarding for my computer and sometimes it lets me connect, other times it wont and the same with my girlfriends computer. both of us have city of heroes on our allow list on our virus protection programs and on windows firewall ( even though we only have our virus protection firewall on).
im at a lost since none of the tips on fixing the internet connection has worked. i even tried forcing a connection by adding " port -13094, and -23094" and again, works sometimes and doesnt others.
p.s. ever since we started using this belkin router, the problem has begun.
