i just got a new computer so now i have 2 computers. one of the computers is a emachine el-1600-01: http://www.emachines.com/products/pr...prod=EL1600-01 . it has 1 gb ram. i have a extra 2gb ddr2 mem card i was thinking about popping in it. so before i attempt to do this my question is, if i take out the 1gb mem stick and put a 2gb mem stick in it will it work? the frequency(mhz) on the 1gb mem stick in the machine is 800mhz and the 2gb has 667mhz. can i do this?

Yes but maybe no.

Yes, you should be able to swap, the BIOS should auto adjust the speed.

Maybe no, because Microsoft's XP license for netbooks limit XP to only 1GB. This system is a nettop and not a netbook but it's still Atom based. So XP may only recognize 1GB out of 2GB so all you did was swap in slower memory. If it recognizes 2GB dandy, more real memory is always better in my book.
