Seeking to play Wii on Computer screen

Sadly Nintendo doesn't offer a display port / vga adapter for the Wii...
My TV is dead, and I want to play my Wii.
Computer is not dead, so yeah, you get the picture. Windows XP, fairly good hardware, yada yada yada. 22'' LCD of which i'd want to see the output of the Wii. Sooooo how do I do it? What cord do I need to buy? Do I need a not dead TV? Hope not. Any help would be nice. |
That said, there are 3rd party solutions, such as this one: http://www.imarketcity.com/vgacaforcowi.html
Also, some monitors accept component input. Speaking for myself, I've got my Wii hooked up by a component to VGA adapter going into a scepter monitor.

That thing wouldn't have any delays between controller press and LCD output would it? Thats especially bad in games like smash bros.

Also, anywhere I can get it cheaper than 30 bucks?

I wouldn't know about delay. I haven't actually used any VGA boxes.

As far as being cheaper, that was the cheapest one I could find. A well-reviewed VGA Box, like the VDigi VD-W2, runs around $40.

Bear in mind that not all games will work with VGA. Such games are very few, though, and most of them probably suck anyway (Ninjabread Man, anyone?). Depending on what games you've got, though, you may be better off seeing if your monitor does have those component ports Saist mentioned and making do with that.

Sooo how would I figure that out? What kind of socket I gotta find on the side of my LCD?

Some LCD's will accept Component to 15pin-VGA. If they do, they'll have provided the adapter with the monitor.

Other monitors will have direct component inputs, which are identified by ports colored Red, Blue, and Green.
If you're monitor didn't come with a Component-VGA adapter, or doesn't have component ports, you're pretty much stuck with a VGA box converter like the ones linked earlier and hoping it works properly.

Figured the cost of buying whatever it is I need to play the Wii using computer LCD would cost less than a new flatscreen.

Sooooo how do I do it? What cord do I need to buy? Any progs I need to DL? Hope I don't need a not-dead TV.
