If you buy the Architect Edition box set, the DVD in it will be updated through Issue 14. We're currently on Issue 16, so you will have to download and fix some portions of the piggs. However, you won't have to do it all.

Only the Architect Edition is updated enough to qualify as much of a shortcut to downloading. Even if you got the Good vs Evil edition DVD, that's only updated to Issue 7, several years ago.

Yup.
You WILL have to update.

I have bought every boxed set of this game since day one.
I have re-installed in several cases.

By the time the disks from the most recent boxed release hits your computer,
I have never seen one yet, that did not already need updating, no matter how new.

The first install is always the worst, but no install is update free.
Never had one that even took 10 hours, but good luck!
and you will have fun when it is done.

48 HOURS? That's insane.

If your download is that slow, you may have problems playing as well. Even on my old, not-even-minimum-requirement system I NEVER had a patch download that took more than 3 hours. That was with 256 megs of RAM and a 1.6 processor.

On that system I was extremely laggy anytime there was more than just me in the area. You may want to look into a system upgrade.

Also, are you on dial-up or cable?

Plus, the game is constantly being improved and adjusted. You'll always have some degree of patching, no matter how up to date your client is. Heck, when Going Rogue comes out? It's pretty much going to be an empty box--the game will still patch itself and our account permissions will sort out the haves from the have nots.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

The slow slow patch updates seems to be a pretty common problem, most likely related to ISP's and bandwidth throttling not speed of connection or computer.

Seen lots of rage posts about it, experienced it myself and on other computers I've installed Heroes on.

I've never been able to install the game from scratch in less than 24 hours.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Whenever I am given a long download, I find that restarting the patcher often fixes the problem for whatever reason.
